Broken can’t Fix Broken

Your attraction is fueled by their compassion,

The depth that they hold between their hands of experiences,

Callused from hardships, but caressed with empathy,

You feel comforted by their alike discomfort.

You share in the same unwavering pain,

Communicate through their profundity,

Consumed by their inner conflicts and complications,

And the actions to fight against them.

Your turned off to those who can be obliviously happy,

Knowing they’re the type who could help you rise from your own ashes,

But you hold close to those who are in the smoke with you,

Because they too, believe in what you're seeing.

They live in the in between, of feeling everything and nothing at all,

Grasping onto the high moments, and dreading the darkness that trails,

The persistent fight between feeling alive and wondering when they will die.

They share the same piece of you that feels as if you're missing.

You see their anguish as desirable,

Someone to mend,

To fill their empty with empathy,

The enticement of you being able to make them whole,

Or feel something positive at all.

Their key is composure,

Strengthened by the walls that were built to protect them,

Sturdy, trustworthy and impactful with their touch.

Desiring them to become your safehouse.

They're the type to light themself on fire, to keep everyone else warm,

You admire their care for others, while wanting to be the warmth for them.

Your attracted to the depth of their abyss, of how far you dive into them,

Before running out of breath,

Because you know you can't save them.

Their darkness doesn't fit into society,

Deemed as broken, damaged and needing to be refined,

But they have a will to overcome,

To be better than what they've experienced.

You're chasing after a person who can understand you,

That recognizes the protective layer of your flame,

Someone who can make you feel something too,

To remind you that you're not alone in this world.

That your shattered pieces of glass, aren't broken to everyone.
