Break your Back
Your broad shoulders carry the weight of your world,
Strengthened by being broken before being built,
However, weakened from the nightmares that follow.
You treasure the small things, in everything,
Because the at large,
You've seen more bad in the world then good.
Your book is open to read,
As long as you approve the chapter,
Letting other people see your durability,
But never your vulnerability.
Only the sides to you,
Where you've let go,
Shown mercy to those who've never shown you any,
Released any of the anger that lies in your history.
But some days that armor fails to confine,
Letting memories that have caused scars to reopen,
granting your mind,
Spiraling into your Faultline of darkness.
Where your mind runs wild,
Extorting your pain from fears,
Rapidly separating you from your sanity.
You shut yourself down,
And hide yourself away,
Because it's your burden to carry,
Not wanting to have your cries be heard,
With the fear of entangling others in yours.
Your strength can be gentle,
In the way you tend to others,
Aiding comfort for when their knees give out,
But letting yours blister unnoticed.
Never enabling yourself to lose control,
Determined to find the adrenaline,
And distract the depression,
Rebuilding your strength in solitude.
To then reappear as if your damage wasn't destructive,
As if your burden didn’t blind you,
And as if the pain had to be dealt with alone.
Your strength and acceptance are attractive,
But the weight of the world is heavy as is,
Nonetheless with the addition of eternal inflictions.
And you will continue to carry the weight of everyone's world,
And manage as you do,
But there are others who care to hold you too,
Who don't want to let the world break your back,
Because they can listen and be there for you.
