I put a note in a bottle,

Then,

tossed it careless in the sea

Titled younger self:

Let the waves crash, and carry you

Wash up, on the distant future shore

Let the tides, smooth out every edge

of words sharpened against

your chest-

Drowning

to be seen ,

as more than

Hold a conch shell to your ear,

just to remember the sound

Older self:

Do not trade you’re voice,

for a pair of spread legs,

for you’re words,

ARE you’re most valuable possession

Do not foam at the mouth

Love will find you

Bottle up emotions,if you must

But do not be surprised when they overflow

Let people come and go,

tides come in

tides goes out

But starfish glow in the moonlight

Pinch oneself to wake up

Run a tight ship,

Or sink it with a cannon ball

Off a high dive of a swimming pool

As you shake at the edge,

closed eyes

Afraid of heights

“Splash”

Hold you’re head up high, like hoisting a mast

Put the ship in a bottle,

be you’re own genie,

grant yourself wishes

Be stern as a mermaid on the bow

Bow you’re head down to no one

For you, are the captain of this sea.

That is bar none the best freedom, guaranteed
