Boss or Not, She's Mom

A drug addict and criminal

She set and taught,

Never knowing all that she

Would hand down to the one,

Learning at her hands and feet.

Hurting she cried,

Broken and changed,

She learned to lie,

Teaching one to be

Strong and carry on.

Angry and sad she

Yelled and fought with those around,

Teaching one to love and smile;

Hanging on to the hope of love,

This time around.

Never trusting, always hiding,

She learned to walk with the pain,

Teaching one to hang on, be head strong,

Even determined to make her way,

In this dark unforgiving place.

Losing all at the bad choices,

She cussed and fussed,

Blaming those around;

Teaching one to work hard,

That nothing’s free in this life.

Always frowning, never at peace,

She leaned on those within reach,

Teaching one to dream, even to

Wear a smile excepting,

The challenge she thinks to

Win at this game.

A bad influence who’s to say….

Yet here I stand free and

Ready to wine at this game of life.
