Beautifully Broken

Healing only comes after the breaking

By Ashley PacittiPublished 5 months ago 2 min read

There once was a little girl,

who wanted nothing more than to heal the broken with all the love she felt.

Her love felt so big that if she tried to keep it to herself, she felt she would explode.

She lead with her heart, which was quick to fill her head with beautiful ideas.

However, she rarely listened to her gut which would scream at her to slow down.

It would beg her to consult with her head before acting.

She rarely listened though,

how could she when she could barely hear a thing over the bright chorus of song coming from her heart.

This little girl grew, and grew, and grew.

Along the way meeting many new people, who would come and then go.

She didn’t understand why her love was never enough to make them stay.

Why she was always left standing there,

holding the match in front of the burning pile of remains which were once the people and life she loved.

It was as though the more she lead with love or the greater her intentions were,

the more destruction she left in her wake.

Her love did not heal, it destroyed.

As her love broke her world, it began to break her too.

Until she had no love to give, even to herself.

Her light, faded.

She grasped around in the dark searching for the light she once felt.

The light that lead her, that came from deep in her heart.

She was lost, deep in the depths of all the broken pieces of the things she had loved before.

The things she destroyed by not thinking her actions through and following her intuition.

All she found as she grasped around in the dark was more darkness.

Frantically she grasped at all the pieces of shadow, pulling them together into a giant pile.

They were pitch black, misshapen, and smashed nearly beyond repair.

She didn’t know what to do with all that damage, where would she even begin?

The pile of broken pieces was humming, nearly inaudibly,

so she decided to listen.

Taking in a deep breath,

she slowed her actions,

waited and consulted with her head.

Her mind was a bright one.

It was always ready for a challenge and loved a good puzzle.

So she began to arrange the pieces of darkness but how was she supposed to figure where all these pitch black pieces went?

They were all the same, but different.

How could she possibly know what pieces would fit together?

She decided to let her gut lead her in the right direction and took action accordingly.

She noticed as the pieces started to come together they vibrated louder and louder with a humming that felt so familiar,

like a song calling her home.

Her heart answered the call.

The pieces began to reflect light back onto her and she began to move with excited haste to bring the final pieces together.

Until finally it sang and shone bright just like her love,

yet somehow louder and stronger than before.

She realized that you could not just rely on one thing to guide you.

That is why we are given so many tools to use along this journey.

By rebuilding her love she had reenforced it, making it stronger than ever before.

The love that had broken and burned everything in its path, was making way for something much stronger.

Something that would last.

Her love did heal, but healing only comes after the breaking.
