Balm to my Anxiety
You Heal my Soul

Nerves riding high
All I can do is sigh
Tension sets in
Will this binge eating end
Can’t eat
Overeat
Too much sugar and salt
I’m on a carnival ride that won’t halt
Shaky hands
Avoidance of friends
Hyper-focused
Or unfocused
There is no in-between
A disposition found in a gene
Lucky if recessive
Sadly, I’m obsessive
I show all the signs
When fate undermines
Keeping us apart
It weighs on my heart
Which causes it all to grow
I know my ducks aren’t in a row
Which is why I have all these hang-ups
Lucky I don’t hide all this worry in the cups
Pacing back and forth
Questioning my worth
Nervous, painful hives on each hand
Diving under the covers, I took all I could stand
I don’t think I’ll be okay
Meds normally keep feelings at bay
But this is a strong feeling of sad and blue
Then suddenly, I’m with you
Your smile lights up my world
Like an angel with his wings unfurled
You swooped into my life
Dispelling all strife
With just a single touch
You calm me so much
Like a parched camel in a desert oasis
My thirst for you becomes this relationship’s basis
In your presence, my mind slows
As my peacefulness grows
My hyperactive nature is steadied
In this world that feels unsteadied
You bring a serenity to my heart
And keep me from falling apart
Instilling a confident grace
I want a lifetime to keep pace
Forever hopeful that you stay by my side
No longer am I drifting in high tide
I was lost, but now I’m found
Our two souls are bound
Mates found in the stars
Anxiety only fits on Mars
