Asked to Dance

Soul Mates

By Lois AzmyPublished 2 years ago 1 min read

We’ll do this story all in rhyme

Beginning the day after August twenty-nine

Have they met? No, not yet

August thirty-one; now the story has begun

She was in a dress all white

Looking for a handsome sight

When a real cute guy passed by

It wasn’t hard to see he caught her eye

She thought she’d take a chance

And asked him if he’d care to dance

Talking and dancing with him was great fun

Little did they know what had begun

The evening ended with a kiss

And a promise the fair they would not miss

Then on September one

On the rides, they whirled and spun

In the grandstands to see the cars go crunch

He began to laugh so much

Because she did aspire

To see a car catch on fire

The friendship that they had begun

Love, understanding, patience, and fun

A few M&M’s to eat

As a late-night candy treat

With a twinkle in their eye

Their lips met as they said good-bye

On the second of September

They met again do you remember

She looked for him and not far

He was on his bike behind her car

On his bike for a ride they flew

He stopped for a few seconds at a beautiful view

The helmet too big for her head

Kept clunking his, making her face quite red

His overnight bag to pack

He was lucky and got to drive the Falcon back

And that night as they talked she knew

It was he, she would get married to

The only thing left to say

I love you more and more each day
