Note: this was written for Real Poetic's ''Spilt Milk Challenge''. I wrote about my family in very tight stanzas, and I hope that the message is clear...
We all need a mother,
Take a brother,
And then take no time
To find a father.
*
Loving a brother
And having a father
Leaves you no lines
To talk of a mother.
*
But to be a father,
You stay with a mother
(if there is one to find)
To love a brother.
*
Only with a mother
As you know your brother…
There is one word that binds.
Speak now: father!
*

What a bloody good lesson in brevity this is. Love it, well done, Kendall!
Wow, so much in such a short amount of words but very punchy 💕
A lot said in few words. Beautiful
Great challenge submission… I see you’re wanting to win again. 😉
Gosh this was so deep and emotional! Very well done!
compact yet very powerful and deep!
Better yet, mom & dad.
Thought provoking and powerful ❤️
I had to read it a few times to really grasp this complexity in the lines. It’s very simple but powerful simultaneously.
