an anomaly, they whispered

best to keep this one contained,

can't have her running 'round

demanding rights, completely unrestrained.

equal pay? is that a thing?

feminism, huh?

get back into last century,

homemaker, please oh please stay put.

it's not your job to question things,

judges will think for you,

know your body better,

like all the o.w.m. that implore you to

'make the bed and lie in it,

never cry about your lot,

open legs and satisfy,' what

patriarchal rot!

queens are meant to

rule beside, not simper or

subjugate.

time for

universal truths and the chance to

venerate those

with two

x-chromosomes, shunning

yesterday's atrocities and choosing

zero faith in hate.

Your Poem makes me think about things! It is beautiful.

  • Whoaaaa, this was extremely powerful! Also, at the risk of sounding dumb, may I know what's o.w.m.? πŸ˜… I loved that you used x-chromosome for X! You're so brilliant!

Brilliant! So empowering! We definitely need to lose any faith in hate! Women against women too often are part of the problem though. Anyway, fantastic as always! 🀍

  • Loved this. And as my six year old daughter Addi would say Girls rule and boys drool.

    Woooooow

  • I'm always intrigued that in Genesis 1 it is to find a "helpmate" for the man, a partner/equal. But those who want to insist upon "traditional gender roles" only want to talk about Genesis 2. Never once do they seem willing to acknowledge that the two accounts of creation differ in their origins (wet vs. dry) & process/timeline, especially as it concerns who was created first: human beings or the rest of the animal kingdom. (Not to mention the fact that Genesis 1 has male & female created at the same time, both in the image of God.) What harm we have done to one another (as well as to ourselves) with our childish lack of understanding! In case you couldn't tell, I love your poem. I just hope the restrictive & abusive attitudes to which you have alluded have not come from within your marriage. I know that you have written glowingly & fondly about your family, but that you have also gone through some tough times. My heart & prayers are with you, my friend. Be well.

I like this. I like this a lot. I read "zero faith in hate" as in not continuing the hate that we've been subjected to. I remember as a kid I came across a video in which somebody broke down a book titled "the feminist manifesto," and that they called men walking dildos, and that was our highest honor. It's weird to have such radical opinions available at the touch of a fingertip due to the age of the internet. Luckily for me my parents taught me that the internet is not the real world. Even if there's less of a mask for people on the internet than in real life. Still, the idea to treat bodies as less than commodities is such an atrocity. Hate begets hate in a never ending cycle of fate meant to desecrate all in a constant pile that will never cease to defecate. Yet, instead of choosing to hate, we propagate the ability to move past mistakes as boundaries erect to to keep others out, but to make bridges on which new connections can make a new point of state.

Whoa!!! In a nutshell and then some. Way to represent the Queens while exposing the ones up who expect nothing less than conformity.
