all over the place
A poem by Steven Palmer
I was hurting for money
so i took back my redemptions
put all my coins
from the mayonnaise jar
into a sad paper sack,
on my way to the bank
I bumped into you.
dropping all my precious coins
all over the place.
Humiliated and red faced,
those coins, rolling and bouncing,
all over the place.
You didn't help me then,
and why should you help me now?
Yet I still see your face,
all over the place.
All over the place,
that's the human race
in need of survival,
in debt for love and money
you see it, it's
all over the place,
all over the place.
Tried to get up the nerve,
to ask for your forgiveness.
I doubt I'd ever achieve this,
but it was worth a try,
feeling sorry for myself
all over the place...
No food, and so little money, so why?
The hot black pavement,
and heavy sewage grate
squandered all my coins,
just like your love for me!
I tried picking them up,
or rather picking you up,
picking you up,
all over the place,
all over the place.
I said sorry, you said sure,
we talked for an hour,
you put the last found coin
in my pocket, and your eyes were...
all over the place,
all over the place.
We make it well together.
I get a good job and we travel
all over the place,
All over the place.
Now I put all my money in the bank,
rather than...
All over the place, all over the place.
