WHAT COLOR AM I TODAY?

A poem by Steven Palmer

What

am I today?

I ask myself every morning when I rise.

My mind starts upon opening my eyes.

This cloud of overhanging

has got to blow away...

today.

What

am I today?

The year has been quite trite,

Sadness, death and a serious blight…

Together we can turn the color from gray

to a beautiful rainbow of

today.

What

shall I use today?

I can’t just give up and runaway!

I use my journal for my escape

I write stories of things that I enjoy…

Things like happier memories when I was a boy.

What

shall I use today?

I want my colors back in my life.

I don’t want any feelings of strife,

I escape by doodle and sketch!

The ink is wet, my pages are fresh.

What

paint should I use today?

I turn my journal pages into works of art…

My dream of having my own gallery,

has finally made its mark!

Gone from saddned

to brightly

ART.

The power of

I SEE TODAY!

My world is filled with colors so bright…

Stories I write, paintings that excite!

I light up the world and show my powers!

My art opening was a success,

I sold everything in just a few hours.

What

am I today?

There are so many now,

I cannot say. I do not know,

We are so many colors brought together as one…

When I look at everything and everyone,

I see a beautiful rainbow.
