ah luv th' dark
poem...with a Scottish tinge, plus translation.
Aye, th' dark, ah luv th' dark
(yes, the dark, I love the dark)
Wae we go, wae to go, wae hey
(Away we go, way to go, way hey)
yee hid tae turn oot the lights
(you had to turn out the lights)
like th' lights in mah heart
(Like the lights in my heart)
like th' lights in mah soul
(Like the lights in my soul)
Aye, th' dark, ah loathe th' dark
(Yes, the dark, I loathe the dark)
yee hid tae bring th' darkness
(you had to bring the darkness)
hid tae open th' door
(had to open the door)
Pal, it brings its demons, wae hey
(Friend, it brings its demons, way hey)
th' dark settles, th' sadness rises
(the dark settles, the sadness rises)
rising sadness, th' darkness settles
(rising sadness, the darkness settles)
wae hey, its demons bring, pals
(way hey, its demons bring, friends)
th' dark brings loathing, wae het
(the dark brings loathing, way hey)
yee hid tae turn oot th' lights
(you had to turn out the lights)
Like th' lights that depart
(like the lights that depart)
like the lights in my hole
(like the lights in my hole)
wae to go, wae we go, ah luv th' dark
(way to go, way we go, I love the dark)
yee hid tae bring the darkness
(you had to bring the darkness)
hid tae let th' demons through
(had to let the demons through)
th' path tae light is paved
(the path to light is paved)
paved wae th' glory o' demons
(paved with the glory of demons)
th' failings o' th' path
(the failings of the path)
complete th' path
(complete the path)
hope is yer light, pal
(hope is your light, friend)
hope awaits

Thanks for reading!
Author's Notes: Again...got lots in the can more or less ready to go...but taking a slowly slowly approach. With this...just had some fun expressing some dark feelings and anxieties and giving it a Scots tinge. Translation may have been unnecessary, but I like how it looks.

Hope is your light, dark is your rest.
The Newf in me got it without translation, but I agree, it looks better this way. Nicely done.
I like how it looked too. It read like the wisdom of a street preacher who looks like he's mad or drunk but is the wisest of us all.
Loved this Paul!! ❤️
I'd agree - translations unnecessary, but it gives it something kind of unique, a kind of call and response with a socio-political flavour.

Oh no, the translations weren't unnecessary at all! They helped me, so thank you for that! I love how they turned out the lights, like the lights in your heart and the lights in your soul!
