When we parted ways years ago

I told myself it would be okay

Even if it wasn’t at that time

So I forced myself to move on

But when we bumped into each other

At the coffee shop we used to meet

I didn’t recognize you at first

Until you whispered my name

For the first time in forever

I felt like I was seventeen again

Our youthful life that we spent together

Came rushing back to me

I wanted to say everything I held on that day

But I could only stare into your blue eyes

And let myself melt in them once more

I desperately wanted you again

But I know there’s no chance

In this life.

We can’t be together anymore

And I have to be okay with it

Even if it’s hard.
