Afterglow

Report Story

The wary eye of change

In the most unyielding of circumstances

The most defiant odds

An eagerness to forego mere chances

Overwhelming tears welling up inside

A bond of common good

Doing all you can knowing that you tried

We pass and part in resilience affirmed

Valiant heroes who conquered

The unjust unfair and mistakenly termed

Held high to the light laid bare of truth

Steadfast in the views held

Battle cries no matter how uncouth

Have left you beaten and horrible chilled

You walk away accomplished

With little than a hope a point of view filled

Days and weeks your voice still strong

For those that have forgotten

A mere moment to most unity belong

But this just lasts as a glance in time

Still bonded to the cause

Life moves on and responsibility chime

Subtle head nods replaced strong stand

Shirts and picture souvenirs

Still banter for change yet not so grand

Following the news and the movements made

Waiting and prepared on standby

Just a call needed to unite plans to be laid

So after it all we look on hopeful resound to try

Always keeping a wary eye

We stand waiting in the brink of a willful sky
