A time entrusted to knowledge, experiences and love
Between the years that have fallen to fast below and above
Causes and faults from one to the next
Distinguish Gen Z from the Y'ers and X
Even though they stand with such fierceness strength
Frantic and driven and so full of angst
Gone is the compassion and guidance from Y
Hurried and oppressed from life and its cries
Its simple to say that X has seen it all
Joking and swearing when they tend to fall
Kept in their secrets a soft nod to Y
Longing for answers that wave gently goodbye
Mooring in high tides Y'ers stand firm
Not knowing how tender with each term
Opposing forces that each will seek to find
Purpose in words that feelings hid behind
Quick to judge and seek out the truth
Reasons and queries but none to soothe
Stomping and yelling we all finally learn
To stop and listen and see where we turn
Unveiled in clarity its quite easy to see
Varnished and polished you each were me
With closer inspection from one day to the next
You have grown and learned to flex
Z is you and Y is X and you and I are that's left
