Afloat

A poem for unprecedented times.

Week 5 of Inktober 52. Prompt: Remote. Created by me.

No man is an island, or so we are told.

Never alone when a device we hold.

Unprecedented times call for strange measures.

Buried under emails. At the bottom, no treasure.

Doing from home and keeping our space.

Virus quarantined the whole human race.

Free trials and subscriptions to claim.

Our lives will never really be the same.

“On our health, this will take a toll.”

“Although not together but still whole.”

While senators stand around, sniffing their own farts,

Cities ordinances require family funerals to stay apart.

Every man is an island, so we have evolved.

This leaves more problems unresolved.

While governors stand around and gloat,

How many islands will stay afloat?
