Addiction Recovery - Don't Give Up!

When You Feel That You Have 'Failed'...

Rome Ruins Italy

You are still healing, moving forward, and growing,

Yes, little one, when you have a goal, and you ‘were doing so well’, and then,

A lapse, a slip, a relapse, a downward spiral….

In these moments, when you feel lost, a failure, in pain and hurt of ‘your own self-inflicted’ wounds of ‘self-betrayal’,

You have laid the foundation, to build your house on land rather than unstable sand…

When you are crumbled, devastated, feel as if you have not moved an inch,

When the pain makes you flinch,

Each baby step with a wince:

I hope that you understand:

When the loud thoughts reverberate to give up now, to throw in the towel, that is was all for nothing, you should have never tried:

Remember;

Rome was not built in a day:

It takes time for construction after destruction:

If you did not still wish to thrive rather than survive,

Then you would not feel this hurt, this disappointment.

Take all this in your stride,

Head held high with pride.

Follow that inner voice, that whispers: let’s try again tomorrow for each moment is new.

You shall find your way through.

Self - aware not self - critical.

You need not punish, nor berate yourself for not being ‘great’.

No need for self - hate.

Do not take on that this is what you deserve,

Nope, do not listen, not a single word.

Preserve that love and strength within.

For you can always restart, renew, and begin.
