About a Buoy
On a single breath, it rides the line of life and death,
baring all and more above the ocean’s depths.
Weathered seamen watch the buoy with admiration,
for within the buoy the sailors see themselves.
Rising, stern and stoic above the raging beast;
a relentless rider in the face of all senescence.
Enduring not for itself, instead for proclamation,
for man to withstand like crustaceans and shells.
Writhing foam and fury engulfs the fleeting peace,
and the buoy bares all and more with acquiescence.
