A Whisper

It's quiet, the only sound is the soft rustling of the leaves in the trees. A soft breeze on the warm night air. Far away from the people of the world, she finds peace.

A smile plays on her lips, and into the safety of the night she whispers. Her quiet words dissipate in the quiet, as if swallowed by the darkness.

She sits alone, and stares up into the stars, again she whispers, as if wishing on a star.

The breeze blows gently lifting a strand of her hair, and softly dropping it back down, caressing her cheek. Again she smiles, because here, her mind is filled only with happy thoughts. She left the stress and day to day worry behind her among the light pollution and noise of the city.

Here she relaxes her shoulders, and her palms find the warm earth. Closing her eyes she feels the vibrations, and again she whispers.

Taking a deep breath, she releases any remaining negative energy and lays on her back. As she watches the night sky, a shooting star crosses her path. Once again she whispers, this time, wishing on the star.

Eventually she will have to return to where the people are, back to responsibility and life. But, just for now she revels in the quiet, in the darkness.

She begins to wonder if the tales are true. If there are others like her, those that feel the energy of others, the vibrations of the earth, the overwhelming pain of the world.

He sits in his quiet place, blowing a puff of smoke from his lips. He watches as the smoke disappears into the darkness. A smile plays on his lips, and he whispers into the night.

He leans back in his chair, as he raises his cigarette to his lips for another long drag. Looking at the stars, he wonders if he could stay in that moment forever. Far away from his miserable job, all the stress and anxiety of it.

A thought crosses his mind as he extinguishes his cigarette in the cold rocks. Again he whispers into the night, his words he knows will be heard, even in the silence.

He thinks of her, the woman in his dreams. He can feel her, even though he does not know her. He feels her energy, the way she feels his. He has so much to teach her when they meet. A smile plays on his lips as he thinks of her, into the night he whispers.

He knows that soon he will have to return to his home, that his shoulders will once again become tense, his back pain will worsen, his anxiety will return. But, not now, not tonight. He takes a deep breath, and closes his eyes, letting the peaceful night envelope him in it's arms.

As the moon wanes and the sun begins to let light into the darkness, she stands, prepared to return home. The moment she is on her feet she hears a faint voice, as if carried to her through the night on the light breeze. She gasps, as she recognizes the voice. It's him, the man from her dreams. The sound is no louder than a whisper, but she knows it is real, and it's meant for her.

He lets out a deep sigh as he watches the sun rise, knowing his time of peace has ended. Beginning his journey down the path, he stops, as he hears the words he has been waiting for. In his dreams, she doesn't speak, yet he knows somehow that the voice he hears now is hers. He is certain in his core, she is speaking to him.

Far apart, they both smile, as they hear the other one whisper, "I Love You."
