A Strange Little Lad

A t the top of a hill,

In a far away land,

In the cold winter chill,

Stood a strange little lad.

H e was different from the rest,

All independent and shy.

W hile they puffed out their chests,

He looked up to the sky.

H e smiled at their laughs;

Their points and their lines.

L ike the little black calf in the herd of the whites.

B ut on a certain day, they took it too far.

T hey pushed him, and poked him,

And insulted his Ma.

S o he left the small town,

The place he called home.

T o seek out his fortune,

And travel the globe.

H e was merchant, a servant, a butler, a chief.

U ntil one day, he was suddenly a thief.

S o into the night, the lad stole away.

Into the dark, he ran on til day.

U ntil he found a position to fill;

A protector who made the hard-earned bill.

F or years the lad protected his friends,

B ut Destiny, it seemed,

had other plans...

F or one day he heard,

A call from his home.

A small plea of help,

From a survivor alone.

Away went the lad,

To help make a stand.

T hat strange little lad,

Returned home a man.
