How long will you stay

A Rainy Day
Photo by Johnny McClung on Unsplash

The wind races through the branches of nearby trees.

Clouds begin to gather.

I feel the moisture in the air.

Raindrops start falling. Drip, drip, drip.

The rain falls faster.

I walk quickly to find cover.

It’s too late.

Rain is falling in buckets.

I start running.

Hair is falling flat against my face.

Water seeps through my socks.

I see a group of trees in the distance.

Can they shelter me from the rain?

I come closer.

Yes, they can.

I stand waiting. 10 minutes. 20 minutes. How long will this rain last?

The rain begins to withdraw. Drip, drip, drip.

Sunlight peeks at me from behind the clouds.

Rain begone.
