A positive attitude is half of the winning recipe.
Win, Place or Show; it's still a long shot.
White coats, white masks everywhere I look, breathe deep, a big cheer; cancer free one more year.
I beat it they say, the ugly monster that dwells deep inside is finally at bay.
It took a lot to get here, tests and treatments and an occasional poke in the rear.
Take a breath, live your life, you beat the odds, you won the race, so put a smile on that beautiful face.
As your next appointment draws near, once more you’re in the game. Will this outcome be the same?
It’s likened to Roulette, you take your chances and place your bet. Hold your breath and say a prayer. It can only end one way, black you lose and red you stay.
Remission they said, relax it’s going to be okay. Lady luck smiled down on you today.
Thank the gods, you played the odds and kept the ugly monster away.
Will it always be so? Some say yes while others say no.
There is nothing you can do except roll the dice or play your hand and live your life the best you can.
We know not what our future holds, so live in the now, have no regrets and once a year when that appointment draws near, be brave, circle the date and don’t dare be late.
Eleven months out of each year, you have lived, you have loved, and you have had no fear.
When you finally do lose the game, know you are a winner all the same.
Despite everything you created memories, you lived your life, you placed your bets and you have no regrets.
