A Door

To A Dream

By Katie Published 3 years ago 1 min read

It was a cool sunny day,

one of those days that only early fall can provide,

I walked.

In an ancient town in an older countryside.

I paused by an old door, with boards twisted and paint long gone.

The hinges rusted and frozen,

ivy encroaching.

What may lay beyond?

What mysteries my mind conjured.

A gateway to other worlds?

Or a pathway to a secluded garden, a shaded place

where lovers once met.

Dreaming the dreams that only those in love could have dreamed.

Two souls imagining a life spent together.

I reached to try the latch,

then thought better of it, and left with dreams intact.
