A couple of short poems
longing, dreaming, and love

Birds
Wind sighs
And tapered edges are caught
They rise
a flock of darkened maroon
takes off
each flap strikes air with a hush
They yearn
for the caress of the blue
I laugh
perched on a tall wooden stool
The bush
the force it tries to exert
It’s stuck
wishing to drift through the sky
How sad
Blind of their binds to the earth
Lover
The eyes of my lover
Must be made
Of some sticky thing
Rich caramel, perhaps
black tar, or glue
They catch my gaze
By the horns And whip me
All around, Pull me in
Keep me at bay,
Fill me up And leave
me craving, Begging
“Set me free
Let me sink
into Your depths
Consume me - please -
Release me”
