A Cloak of Sunset Fire

Don't wait too long to look

Witness Mother Nature’s touch

As She rests a cloak of sunset fire on the grass

Beautiful shades of orange and red

A dazzling show in just a flash

~

When you know that She is coming

You mustn’t take too long to look

Because such beauty won’t last forever

There is no time for second looks

~

To see a sight that is so vibrant

One might pinch themselves

And think that they are dreaming

Of worlds beyond ourselves

~

But the clock is ticking

For sadly nothing lasts

What was once so bold with colors strong

Is fading rather fast

~

The display is quiet now

With bright golds turning brown

The sun has set for another day

And the moon rises as Her crown

~

About the Creator

Pieces of Me ~ Poems by Heidi

In 2022, I came across a bin of my journals spanning many years. It was then that I realized I haven’t told people I enjoy writing or shared my work publicly. I decided to start.
