Sometimes it feels like yesterday

11 years this month.

Suddenly, it tears through my chest.

Today is the anniversary.

~

Flashback to wires and tubes,

To silence as the machines are removed,

To the way you never woke up to say goodbye.

~

We've all moved forward like you would want us to.

I leave flowers when I come home to visit.

I speak to the stone like it was you, but it isn't.

~

It's gotten easier to manage.

I don't think about you everyday anymore.

But a sudden reminder can bring laughter or tears.

~

Still, I don't have to change the channel

When the Mother's Day commercials start anymore,

So that's progress.

April 15th, it will be eleven years for us since our son died. We no longer have to turn the channel but we do still think about him every day. Blessings & prayers to you, Cat.

Beautiful. I really loved this part: We've all moved forward like you would want us to. I leave flowers when I come home to visit. I speak to the stone like it was you, but it isn't. I lost my mom 7 years ago and this really touched my heart

    ah yes, I remember these feelings...they lessen...eventually. It's a nice tribute. 💕💕
