Why do we love our pets so much?

Pet ownership is a pretty big responsibility, so before you bring home a new pet, it’s important to consider why you want to do it in the first place.

• Is your life too busy for a pet? Do you have the time and energy to provide daily care? Are you financially able to provide for them?

• Are you able to commit to providing a lifetime of veterinary care? For a lot of people, though, pets provide so many benefits that it’s hard to imagine life without them. For starters, pets can offer a lot of the same physical and mental health benefits humans get from social interaction—they just come with a lower risk of judgment! Pets can provide companionship, reduce stress and anxiety, increase feelings of self-worth, and even boost our immunity.

What’s not to love about spoiling our pets?

When we’re kids, we’re often taught to be frugal and cautious with our resources, and this often carries into our adult lives as well. After all, you don’t want to spend money on things you don’t absolutely need. But when it comes to our pets, being a little more extravagant can actually be a good thing.

There’s a wide range of pet products out there to help keep our pets safe and healthy, and many of them are so affordable that it makes sense to buy more than you need. As long as you’re not spending too much time or money on your pets, there’s really nothing to be ashamed of.

5 reasons why our pets love being spoiled.

1. Comfort - Some things in life are just plain uncomfortable, but when you spoil your pet, you can ensure that they’ll be living in the lap of luxury. When you fold out a big, fluffy bed for them or put a heated blanket on their favorite spot on the couch, you’re providing a soft surface that will be much better on their joints and bones.

2. Healthy treats - There are plenty of treats out there that are made with healthy ingredients to help keep your pet healthy and strong. If your pet likes them, go for it!

3. Special toys - Your pet might not know the joy of a nice dinner out, but they probably do enjoy playing with toys. Whether it’s a squeaky toy, a plush toy, or an old shoe they like to drag around, a little special something to play with can really make them happy.

4. Medical care - If your pet gets sick, it can be a serious and expensive ordeal. But regular checkups at the vet can help catch diseases early, and vaccinations can help prevent them. With the right veterinary care, you can make sure your pet is always healthy.

5. Fancy accessories - For some of us, our pets are our babies, and for them to look their best, they might want a little extra bling. Whether it’s a bow tie or collar, or something a bit more functional, like a harness, your pet might enjoy accessorizing.

6 benefits of spoiling your pet.

1. Increased happiness - A lot of the benefits listed above revolve around making your pet happy, and happiness is a pretty important thing. Besides being a nice thing to do for an innocent creature, pets who are happy are generally easier to live with, so you’ll probably have an easier time caring for them.

2. Extended life expectancy - When you take good care of your pet, you’re extending their life expectancy.

3. Regular checkups to keep them on track preventatively are important, and a little extra can go a long way toward helping them live a long life.

4. Decreased vet bills - It’s no secret that getting regular checkups, vaccinations, and preventative medications can be expensive. But if you’re proactive about your pet’s health, you can help keep their vet bills low.

5. Fewer worries - When you spoil your pet, you’re helping them live a more comfortable life, which can make them less prone to getting anxious and stressed. When they’re less worried, they’re less likely to get sick, and you won’t have to worry as much about taking them to the vet.

6. Greater confidence - When you spoil your pet, you’re showing them just how much you care. And when you’re more confident in your care for something, you’re showing yourself the same.

Conclusion

There’s no denying that humans and animals living together has its benefits. Pets can provide companionship, stress relief, and even help lower our blood pressure. But let’s be honest: They also come with some downsides. Depending on your pet, you can expect to spend a good amount of time cleaning up after them, disinfecting surfaces they’ve marked as their own territory, or even rushing them to the vet when they get an itch we can’t help them scratch. But why would anyone put themselves through all this? Because there are few better ways to show someone you care than by extending your care toward a creature that needs it. And for many of us, nothing shows our love for someone like a furry little friend who adores us back.
