Brian Tracy once said "To earn more you must learn more."

Jim Rohn said, "Unless you change how you are you'll always have what you got."

Have you are on the journey to become successful you must have come to the point where you are fully motivated to get better but just don't know how? The truth is we have to completely change ourselves and how we view the world to become more. To quote one of my favorite speakers Jim Rohn again, "We can have more than we've got because we can become more than we are." But how can we become more? We have to learn new ideas, discover something new; maybe even rediscover yourself!

I believe it is impossible to learn about financial independence without reading the basics like Rich Dad Poor Dad by Robert Kiyosaki or Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill. This list, however, looks at books that are fundamental to understanding money and how to get it.

Without further ado I present to you the million-dollar list:

1. The Millionaire Next Door: The Surprising Secrets of America's Wealthy by Thomas J. Stanley

I believe that if one truly wants and dedicates themselves to a goal, its achievement becomes inevitable. This gem provides insightful analysis of the traits and habits of the wealthiest people in America. In essence, what your life could look like once you are there. It focuses on the frugality and economic conservation of millionaires that is often overlooked. As far as changing my perspective goes, this book played a vital role in who I am today as a person.

2. The Art of Persuasion by Bob Burg

'The Art of Persuasion' teaches you how to get what you want when you want it,' says the book description on Amazon. You could have the greatest idea in the world but if you can't communicate it it is worth nothing. Say you've garnered enough confidence to present your idea to people but they don't care. Worse yet, they try to convince you why it won't work! What then? Any idea that made great impact had to be presented to the world, in a persuasive manner for that matter. Bob Burg's book analyses the characteristics of all successful people specifically their ability to win people over.

3. The Subtle Art of not giving a **** by Mark Manson

Most self-help books offer the same cliché baseline with the same cliché stories but this one is just different! Unlike many books of its kind, it cuts across many areas of life from career to love and even family life. As the title suggests it emphasizes how unnecessary worry is while providing thought provoking perspectives to different situations in our everyday life. The introspection offered by this book is life-changing, to say the least.

4. The 5 Levels of Leadership: Proven Steps to Maximize Potential by John C. Maxwell.

We are all leaders in our own capacity but we have to be intentional and understand leadership if we are to become world class. Nothing can be left to chance, not even what we've done everyday. This book appreciates the fact that leadership isn't necessarily about fancy titles or offices. It's about the ability to move people. You need to learn how to manage an effective and productive team. In a humorous and simple manner John C. Maxwell explains several stages of leadership such as Position, Permission, Production, People Development, Pinnacle (the 5 P's).
