Who Are You?
Is that a question that you have asked yourself? I have, and the answers are not always the ones that I want to hear. If you have asked this question and created an answer that best suits your taste then you are screwed. The way to answer the question is by being more than honest with yourself. It may hurt at first but it can help in the long run. Have you ever wondered why some people flourish and others do not? It is because they dig inside themselves before they attempt to do anything. Whether it is work, play, or just making friends, they have decided to be the best versions of themselves that they can be. Yeah, it is harsh to think you may not be the best version of who you can be. To do that, you have to go all the way back to when you were young and wide-eyed, when you decided who you were, what you wanted, and how you wanted to get it.
If you can write down the positive and negative points about yourself, then go over your list. See if anything that you have written corresponds to who you are and how your life actually is. Viewing your list you will no doubt find lots you may not like. I ask that whatever you do, don’t scratch anything out. Leave it and change it! We tend to do that when we read something about us that we don’t like. If it is something we heard that we don’t like, we try to act like we did not hear it. If it is true, listen to it and change it. Then there are things that people say just to hurt us. Have you ever noticed that when someone has said something negative about you that has hurt you, your mind plays it over and over again? There are two reasons it replays: one is because you focus on it and the other is because your mind is absorbing it. This alone makes a difference in who you want to be and who you are. Sometimes you become a negative person and it can bring what you don’t like into your life. The only way to change what you don’t like in your life is changing how it is processed after absorbing it.
Striving to be the greatest you takes guts and determination to control your mind’s thought process. This determines how you will bring your thoughts into reality about yourself bad or good, and the creation of your life’s dreams, desires, and focuses. However, it also determines how you handle others in your life. The whole reason that I decided to write this topic is that so many people come up with “I don’t know who I am” and the truth is they know who they are but accepting how they chose to conduct their lives is the problem. Finding yourself and knowing who you are isn’t about traveling to another place to get to know yourself. It is about comparing who you started out as and who you are at present. The great thing is if you decide you want to travel it is only to broaden your life. You do that by taking in more knowledge of things that you want to learn. Then you can apply the knowledge to your life as you see fit. Granted, it is not always easy to do that and it may be due to money, kids, marriage or something else. If this is your decision, you should do it after saving money, before you get married or have kids.
Your mind is powerful and is more complex than a computer. You have to treat it as such. What you put into it about who you are is what your answers will be from it. Whatever your decisions are, they have to be based on what you can do and be happy with. Yes, there are pitfalls like lower paying jobs, high rent, and taxes but to work around that, create your own company! Yep, to truly be free to be you, sometimes it takes breaking strings holding you down. And those are the three biggest strings. There are times when a person does not have to make such a change to be who they want to be. However, if you find that you have to do that, then find a mentor or someone that has done it and follow your new path. Always try to remember that it is hard work to build the life that you want. Being the person that you want to be instead of the person that you are is surely worth the fight! You can if you want to!
