Introduction

According to Google the word “Manifest” means “to show something or to be shown clearly”. But in psychology Manifestation generally means using our thoughts, feeling and belief to bring something to our physical reality. Which clearly means that manifestation is nothing different from goal setting. In both the case you take a idea and do what is necessary to make that idea a reality. Which gives rise to lots of doubts such as why does the Same thing goes by different names? does these two terms actually means the same? Is manifestation a fancy term for goal setting? Lets take a vivid look into it to understand better.

Manifestation VS Goal Setting

When a person sets a goal, he clearly defines the results he desires to achieve and explores the paths available to reach his desired results, finding the path he sketches the action plan to bring his vision to reality. This is how a goal setting is done, this method is used by many for centuries. This method is what generally being used by entrepreneurs to start a company these days. Does all the entrepreneurs are successful? NO.

Well, a manifestation is not very different from what discussed above, manifest is a game of life that revolves around your mindset and mindset alone because manifest happens through meditation, visualization or just via your conscious or sub-conscious. Let us see the way it is done.

STEPS TO MANIFEST

1.Get crystal clear on what you want: Try creating vision boards either digitally or manually. Make it as real as possible so it’s almost like its already yours.

2.Ask the Universe: Start creating affirmations on what you really want and repeat them over the shower when you wake up, before going to sleep, make this habit into your daily routine and most importantly believe in what you’re saying, it really makes the difference.

3.Work towards your goal and take action on what you want: Journaling is the best way to work on the goal achieving. Write in the morning how your day should go and in night write your regrets of the day.

4.Keep your vibes as high as possible: You attract what you send out so be positive and attract positivity.

5.Act if: This is the most powerful tool act as if it is already true. Act like the person you want to be. Act as if everything you want has already been provided. Manifest through meditation surround yourself of high vibes and believe you can and you deserve to have everything you want.

Most of you might think that I am talking rubbish or bluffing and wasting your time. So lets speak scientifically now shall we.

There is actually science is behind the idea of manifestation, let’s see how these researches lend hand to manifestation.

1. Dr.Carol Dweck’s Research clearly shows that believing you can do something makes it more likely that you will successfully do it . That means believe in our ability to learn, grow and succeed creates a growth mindset which indeed affects our behaviour. Ultimately science suggest that if we truly believe we can achieve something we are willing to do the hard work to achieve it. This shows that our belief is direct effect in our behaviour.

2. Self fulfilling prophecy also known as interpersonal expectancy effect refers to the phenomenon where as a person or a groups expectation of other person or groups serves actually to bring about the prophesied or expected behaviour. This prophecy is actually is all about manifestation.

3. Research shows that if you are already feeling bad, we are more likely to interpretate neutral circumstances in a negative way.it may be that someone with more positive attitude just pays more attention to the way in which they have successfully manifested their part of their dream. Another person with a more negative outlook may experience the exact same thing and only see where they fail to manifest what they desired. That how bias may affect manifestation. This biased perception is also a form of manifestation, negative bias attracts negativity and positive bias attracts positivity.

4. Dr.Barbara fredrickson’s research has also shown that positive emotion makes us think more creatively. Dr.sonja lyubomirsky has also shown that happiness leads to success and not the other way around. People who are generally happy attracts more opportunities, have better relationship and seems to be able to manifest what they set their minds to more easily.

Conclusion

So, after all the discussion one thing is very clear manifestation deals about perception, attracting positivity, the way we think which all is necessary to create a mindset. Yes manifestation completely deals only with the conditioning of one’s mind to achieve their desired results, whereas as goal setting talk only about the actions that need to be taken to achieve our desired results. In reality actions only can’t help oneself to achieve his desired goal without consistency, if you want to be consistent you must have the right mindset for never giving up on your goal. you know a psychologist named Edward Thorndike put forward a “LAW OF EFFECT” which stated that any behaviour that is followed by pleasant consequences is likely to be repeated, and any behaviour followed by unpleasant consequences is likely to be stopped. This clearly shows that in order to keep moving forward in a negative situation you need to have a proper mindset that is focused on your goal. Thus, it is clear that manifest and goal setting are not the same. In order to achieve success one must do manifest the goal and then take action to bring his/her desire to reality.
