Then sings my soul.

She sings but without sound

When offered to write what I’m passionate about or what brings comfort I couldn’t dare to scroll by. Even with a nifty dollar sign flaunting next to it. Of course, writing is my passion.

Do I even need to explain why?!

Sure I do! Writing is a language that communicates to the soul, mind and heart from and to another person.

Verbal words can’t do it justice. I mean, sure it sounds great to hear someone call you pretty in person, and heck, even sex itself is an intimate language and can feel pretty good, but written words stick to the mind. They are memorable. And memorable words bring feelings that don’t die. When powerful enough, they are even quoted in another century.

I have been writing since I could access the crayon box. The pictures in our imagination are better than movies because they are created from the version that is inside of you. We could all read the same book and have three different versions of the way it will play out.

What is a writer?

Well let's see, the dictionary terminology say’s "A person who has written a particular text.”

Which is translated to me that a writer is someone who writes unqualified who can later become qualified by choice. But where does a writer begin?

Most people think that they can ‘go to school’ to become a writer which is only partially true.

Writing is a natural passion. There are people who have a Bachelor's degree and could know every little thing there is to know about writing but could not write you a single lick of material.

A writer is that child who wrote all those little silly short stories while their brother or sister played outside.

A writer is that middle school student in English class who was told to write an essay and enjoyed it.

A writer is that note-taker in church, school or meeting who writes down every important little detail for enjoyment.

A writer is that person who while on their drive home from the store see's something or someone on the road and has come up with a whole story of inspiration by the time they’ve arrived home.

A writer is a daydreamer.

It is that person who takes extremely loud showers without having said a single word. Or that person who listens to a song and has played out the whole music video that they have come up with in their head.

I hate using this word but, writers are crazy.

I like to use the word creative, but creativity comes from a mind that wanders and not everyone is a wanderer.

I think that's one way of making crazy out to be a good thing.

Whether you’re the kind that likes to drink lots of coffee or smoke a-lot of cigarettes, we are all a little neurotic.

But in all honesty, a writer is a brave and curious person. They set out with the possibility of being rejected.

Have you ever loved something or someone and had been rejected by it?

A writer is curious enough to succeed and brave enough to try. Which is why I like to call myself a ‘faith writer’.

I consider it done. If it's already on my heart, then it's already on my pen, which is already on my paper, therefore it is already done.

For someone else to like it or want it, that's their simple opinion.

Even when a writer's work is done, they are never finished.

In the words of my mother, "A writer is a perfectionist because there's always better to be done.”

Writing is the voice the Creator gave me to sing.
