Is this the best soap opera in the world?

Time to Come Out of Hiding!

Whether you like it or not, you are subject to, or even the subject of the best soap opera in the world.

The scripts are so far fetched, diverse, scary and a catastrophe lies around every corner. Sometimes your heart is in your mouth almost every minute of every day, wondering what nail-biting moment is going to happen next.

Phil Mitchell, the Dingles, Mercedes, Sue Ellen, or Harold Bishop haven't got a patch on you!

In this soap opera, the whole world can hate you, a wrong decision drastically changes your life for the worse, and you can't go back. Or say sorry, or start again.

This soap opera tends to be in black and white with no wriggle room.

Do and die, or don't and die. Fight or flight.

A Soap Scene you Can Relate to?

Recently, in my very own soap opera scene, the script went a little like this when I said I wanted to start showing up more and doing some live videos...

Who'd want to listen to you?

Why do you bother to get up in the morning? Even your kids don't listen to you, why would anyone else want to listen?

People will laugh you off the face of the planet, and you won't be able to show your face anywhere. How are you gonna deal with that?

You're not good enough. You will umm, ahh, and forget what you are saying. It will look so unprofessional.

Everyone will be looking at that zit. You won't hide it well enough.

And by the time you go on camera, it will be the size of a tomato and not a cherry one and explode all over the place. You'll gross everyone out so much you'll destroy your reputation before you begin, so don't bother!

WTF???

No, that voice was not a troll or my arch-nemesis.

That soap opera scene played out in my brain.

Perhaps you can relate.

Mark Twain explains it best:

"I've had thousands and thousands of problems, most of which never actually happened."

Don't Worry, You Can Co-exist with Your Brain!

And we can't blame our brain as that is what it is designed to do.

Protect us.

And that fear is not going to go away. You don't want it to go completely! It can save your life!

But when the threat is not physical and a psychopath is not coming at you, or your family with a knife, or you accidentally time traveled and came face to face with a T-Rex (if that's the case, do tell me what colour they really were), then it's pretty damn useful.

However, living in a permanent fight or flight state is not healthy and is a killer in itself. Stress can develop into a whole array of complications and conditions that make your life less than enjoyable and is frankly an efficient dream killer.

It is not necessary for this day and age. (At least not 24/7, as stress can be a useful indicator that something is not right.)

Your brain loves to create DRAMA! But when you catch those overdramatic non-empowering thoughts and say, "thank you for sharing that, but I'm going do this anyway," it is possible to coexist.

Your brain is not going to stop. But you don't have to believe those thoughts. That's a choice you are free to make.

Action dissipates fear.

This affirmation from T Harv Eker...

"I ACT IN SPITE OF FEAR! I ACT IN SPITE OF DOUBT! I ACT IN SPITE OF WORRY!

...may just help you to get past that fear block too.

Or I am finding it is more powerful to repeat it like this to yourself just before bed, so your subconscious mind thinks you have already acted on it. It becomes part of the warrior you.

What is it that you've always wanted to do?

-Write a book?

-Share your work as an artist?

-Have people listen to you?

-Help lots of people?

What if that leads to success, recognition, happiness, or whatever your goal might be?

You won't know unless you try.

There is more at stake if you don't try.

And that is that the world won't know what a wonderful person you are. And that would be a tragedy.
