They are out there

breathing our air

their purpose is to claim

until you are on bended knee

to their tower

under their power

drained of strength

while they trample your world

breadcrumbs

becomes

your hearts desire

feeds your fire

one day your soul

becomes what they stole

they release the chain

without it you are in pain

leaving you empty handed

emotionally stranded

by the modern day vampire

with many lost souls for hire .

nor a crucifix or two

silver is useless
