The Fear of Failure

“Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts.”

As humans, we are going to fail, we are going to fall flat on our faces many times, and it's going to be messy.

We are perfect in the knowledge that we aren't perfect, we are going to make mistakes, and that is okay, that is just part of the journey called life.

When we do make a mistake, or "fail" at something, the single best thing we can do for ourselves is to learn to have compassion, grace, and understanding. This is when we give space to allow our true self to emerge from the deepest depths within us.

Your true self is hiding within you, and wants to come out and play, but cannot do so when we are overly critical & hard on ourselves, we don't give that higher aspect of us a chance to grow.

When we learn to treat ourselves in the same way you would a small child, that is when we flourish beyond our wildest dreams.

Failure is a part of the human experience, making mistakes is a part of the learning process, and that is absolutely okay! Failure gives you a great opportunity to give yourself a pat on the back and say good for you for trying, now let's try it this way, and you carry on.

As Winston Churchill once said: “Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts.”

Courage... Have the courage to face your fears, and look them straight in the eye and say, I am going to do this, no matter how scared I am, this is what I want and fear is not going to stop me.

The fear of failure is what stops most people from going after their dreams, we think about what could go wrong when really, we should instead think about what could go right. What could you accomplish if failure didn't exist?

Understand that the fear of failing is okay because failing is okay. There is nothing bad, or wrong about failing, our society has just convinced us that failing is the worst thing imaginable, but it's not... It's a part of life.

Changing your very relationship with fear can actually change everything in your life! Currently, most humans think fear is bad, but what if we realized that fear is not the enemy at all... It has power, just like love and joy, and when you use fear correctly, it can serve you in many different ways.

Fear is a story that we made up about something that has not even happened yet, so why not make up a new story? One that empowers you to live an extraordinary life!

We are truly powerful creators, and we can do whatever we want, but often times we focus on the bad, or all the "what if's" and then we are unable to act because of that fear... Fear of failure, fear of what others might think, fear of not being good enough, Etc. Etc.

When we take away the fear of failure, anything becomes possible, even those dreams that are currently out of reach, become possible, because there is no failure. Sure you might make a mistake, you might mess up, and that is okay, remember? Have compassion, grace, and understanding with yourself, and treat yourself like you would a small child.

When you do make a mistake, which inevitably will happen, smile and say to yourself, "that's okay! Now I know what doesn't work, let's try something different."

Before you know it, you will have the life you dream of, and failure will no longer be something you fear, but something you now look forward to as it gives you, that higher aspect of you, a chance to grow & flourish.

Thank you for reading, I hope this helps.
