The Brilliance of #Project50

What if I told you that you could be a completely different person...in just 50 days!

Imagine you had a blueprint to change your life in 50 days.

What would that look like for you?

Perhaps you want to change your eating habits. Focus on consuming more healthy foods and ditch the sugary stuff.

Or maybe you want to read one book a week!

It’s rare that a person can even make that initial decision to change. They don’t even know where to begin.

That or they have the idea that they are fine just the way they are.

Now, I’m not saying that they’re horrible human beings, but they are far from perfect. We all are!

The opportunity to better one’s self should never be overlooked or taken for granted.

Here’s where the #project50challenge comes in.

The rules are simple:

Wake up before 8 am every morning.

Do a morning routine for 1 hour with no distraction.

Exercise for 1 hour.

Read 10 pages per day.

Dedicate 1 hour towards a new skill.

Follow a healthy diet.

Track your daily progress in a journal.

Easy enough right?

Now let's talk about each one and how they benefit you.

Wake up before 8 am EVERY morning

It’s no surprise that mornings can be brutal for even the toughest individuals. You had one too many at that party the night before and you now wish you can lay in bed until you die.

But, did you know that some studies show that waking up early can improve one’s mood throughout the day? It really makes sense when you think about it.

Who does enjoy more time in the day to complete all your tasks and still have time for some fun?!

With that being said it's also important to get 6 hours of sleep, minimum.

I’m sure some of you have seen those cringe morning routine videos on YouTube at least once.

All I will say is don’t knock it.

After that good sleep you just had, it’s time to kick off your day with a few chores. I know, I know, but stay with me for a second.

This one really goes in tandem with the first rule. Like I said before, when you get up early enough you have more time to get things done.

That could include making your bed, drinking coffee/tea, meditating, and so many more things you can incorporate. Whatever keeps your morning distractions at bay.

Exercise for 1 hour

I will advocate for daily exercise any day of the week.

Performing some type of physical activity keeps your body in tip-top shape. It also does wonders for your mental health as well.

Just to rattle off a few forms of exercise, you can do weight training, cardiovascular training (i.e. running, cycling, swimming), playing sports, anything to get that heart of yours pumping!

This is definitely one you should try your best to not miss.

Read 10 pages per day

Reading has been said to drastically improve vocabulary and knowledge.

With the book of your choice, this is an easy one for sure.

I won’t lie to you and say I’ve always enjoyed reading. I’ve always been more of a videogame guy.

However, recently, I’ve been getting more into self-help books. Anything to give me a better understanding of how to improve myself.

Reading also helps to relax and reduce stress.

So leave your phone in another room, find that cozy spot in your house, and open a good book.

Your brain will thank you!

Dedicate 1 hour towards a new skill

By Jacek Dylag on Unsplash

This one really hits home for me. For a long time, I’ve had the dream to be 100% self-employed and work from anywhere I want.

There are a few skills I would like to learn in order to be able to accomplish that.

Sometimes it can be hard to find the time.

If you can dedicate just an hour to something you love, it can make all the difference in your life.

Like reading, learning a new skill can add to your knowledge.

So find what it is you’re passionate about. Whether it's designing, writing, learning an instrument, a new language, or anything you want.

Follow a healthy diet

Daily exercise is important but probably more important than that would be maintaining a healthy, well-balanced diet.

It can be easy to be neglectful of what goes into our bodies. But the benefits are enough to implement a better diet in your life.

Along with helping you to stay in shape, consuming a healthy diet also has benefits you may have never thought of.

This could include even healthier skin and hair!

To make these 50 days as effective as possible, it's recommended that you don’t have “cheat days”. However, if this is difficult for you, you can make Saturdays or Sundays your day to indulge. In moderation of course.

Track your daily progress in a journal

Keeping track of your journey throughout the next 50 days is important.

Have you ever looked at an old photo of yourself and thought, “wow I’ve really changed!”? That’s what you can do at the end of your 50 days.

You’ll be able to look back at the progress you documented and see all the improvements you made.

These rules are to be implemented every day for the next 50 days. It can be a real shock but if you remain consistent, I’m positive that your life will change for the better!
