Child imagination play brought back to life
At 40 years old, with an (almost) 10-year-old son I had found myself without purpose, without joy and without a creative outlet. I had tried countless activities, crafts and soul searching but they all left me feeling defeated. To simply summarize my efforts, they all just were not the right fit. It was discouraging, as I had always seen my siblings (all three of them) with talents and hobbies, my mother with a passion and gift for drawing and painting, and my father who is the handiest man I know, tinkering, fixing, and always thinking outside the box.

Ready Writer!
My induction to creative writing at age eleven was a moment of activation! An activation of a gift that I knew in time would be what the world had been in great anticipation of all along! My sixth grade teacher taught her students the fundamentals and benefits that came with being able to tell a story that was written and created by you with your designed audience in mind. I can remember sitting in class with the biggest smile on my face as I took notes, hanging on to her every word. I was inspired that day and I left with passion stirring on the inside that I couldn’t explain at the time! But I was clear on one thing, I was created to write! The summer of that year, I spent every waking hour writing and creating short stories!

Testing: One, Two, Three...
You can't be born into a family named "McCoy" without falling under the enchantment of music. Moonshine aside, one of the greatest gifts given to the Irish is a passion for haunting ballads and lively jigs and reels. Some of my earliest memories are of my dad singing my older sister and I to sleep; I must admit that later in life I was taken aback when I focused on the lyrics to those songs! Murder, mayhem and false-hearted maidens roved through my head as I drifted off to sleep as a child.
