Happiness, defined; things that help you find happiness, keep it, and share it with others.
How to Save a Life
It begins with the rising of the sun, this job, this calling of mine. The seniors will eat whenever they are fed and then happily go back to sleep, but the puppies - oh, the puppies! They awaken with an indescribable energy and joy, requiring immediate food, exercise, and mental stimulation. And of course, training.
Stumble. Most of the time, I feel useless. It’s funny. Everyone’s telling you to finish university as fast as you can. Get your degree and get out of school. So I did.
100 "I Am" Affirmations
“I am” affirmations are powerful statements that can help boost self-esteem and confidence, while also helping one to manifest and practice mindfulness. “I am” affirmations are especially powerful when recited in front of a mirror aloud, but can be used in whatever way you like. Some choose to journal their affirmations (like me!), and others may recite them in more poetic or ritualistic ways. Affirmations can be used to help us manifest physical things, but also better feelings and reshape our minds in a positive way. Here are one hundred “I am” affirmations you can use however you’d like, as often as you’d like. It may feel uncomfortable to recite these out loud at first, and may be more “natural” to start by writing them down. Take note of what seems to resonate with you personally, and integrate these affirmations into your daily routines. Saying your affirmations after waking up and before going to bed may feel especially invigorating and comforting. Who wouldn’t want to start and finish the day with positivity?
Return of the Art
According to the Collins English Dictionary, re-entry is the act of returning to a place, organization, or area of activity that you have left. In science, re-entry is defined as when a spacecraft comes back into the Earth’s atmosphere after being in space. In Law, re-entry means the gain or resume possession of a property. In this case, Re-Entry is defined as returning to a place where departure was necessary or no choice at all. Coming back could mean whatever circumstance was created to make us leave has been destroyed, pushed back, or not confronted yet. Leaving and coming back with a brand-new attitude can be a major boost in maturity and growth. However, we don’t know if coming back will help bring back all the emotions associated with the leave or becoming prepared for what’s to come. Coming back to a toxic environment is not a good thing depending on the individual.
A day in the life
I love my job because, daily, I have the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of countless people. It is with daily gratitude I begin my day. Practicing gratitude allows me to be aware of my emotional intelligence. I am allowing myself the possible reflection to make necessary changes where improvement could establish in any area of my life. It is with the understanding that I must first look after myself before looking after another. And utilize this mind-fullness to shift any negative energies that may affect me from authentically feeling happy.
Fighting for the citizen's 'right to breathe'
"I was not born yesterday," I said, raising my voice, when a local politician did not see reason. I had come to invite him for a protest against a polluting plant in his backyard.
Tips to Engage Your Employees
Finding quality employees is never easy. You may have to search for weeks (or even months) to find someone who is qualified for the position that you are offering. However, qualifications are not everything. You need to find someone who is going to be an asset to your company.
Up and Leave
Emelie had just quit, in the middle of the day, from her office job, after three years of service, and the downright disrespect that had just come out of her managers mouth, she knew that she had to move on, for the sake of her family, friends and her own health; Emelie had had enough of the place, treating her as if she was nothing and no one, thinking that she had nothing better to do than just work all day and all night long and completely ignoring anything that she would ask for, which would have made her job and her colleagues a lot easier and less stressful. Emelie’s manager, who was over twenty years older than her, was a complete and utter nightmare to work with, disrespectful, unforgiving and had no sense of empathy, compassion or solidarity with his staff.
Helpful Hero, Leo
My Dearest Service Dog Leo, The most beautiful day had finally come. The day that I made the most important life-changing decision that I could ever make about my near future. The day that I chose you, who was originally called “Mr. Black”, out of all the breeders, organizations, other pups in your litter; after months and months of extensive research, time on the clock just kept passing by, but the day I first set my eyes on you, time had stopped. It’s forever lodged into my memory.
Arborist world of trees
I love the Forrest. Trees have always spoken to me since I was a little girl. Living right next to the woods I would explore amongst the plant life, singing to the birds and creatures of the magical mystical world. I felt alive and connected to this bigger than me experience inside the wonders held in the ecosystem within the forest.
Why the second lockdown hurts more
I love to run in the bush. Yep, people find it strange but I love the feeling of running. My mind shuts up and my body takes over and we go exploring. I like to find trails that no one else knows about – parts where you need to bush bash your way through thick bushes and try and avoid getting scratched by blackberry bushes (whilst stealing some blackberries to eat and praying they haven’t been sprayed) and wading waist deep through river crossings. It brings me such joy. To get back to my car covered in dirt and sweat and peel off my shoes and socks and eat whatever treat I have left in the car for post run. Then a hot coffee and a drive home for a hot shower. Or, if I am really lucky I carry a tent in the bush and hike over a few nights, so post hike it’s a hot coffee and a warm sleeping bag, sans shower. I smile sadly, even whilst writing about it because I am currently, like millions of other Melbournians, going through lockdown #2. It’s so much harder this time around and on this morning’s run I think I worked out why I feel like that.
A Day in My Life Could Change Yours.
I love everything about skydiving. To do it for a job is the biggest privilege I can imagine. When I do it on my own it still takes my breath away. I don’t feel the fear when I look out of the door, I see the ground, I see the landing area, I am looking for things other than fear. I can still remember my first tandem jump though. I was beyond terrified; I was hardly functioning. I felt like my body wasn’t mine to control. I still did things when I was instructed to, but I didn’t have the will or drive to come up with things I should do myself. I became an automaton, a puppet doing the whim of the person pulling my strings. I make it sound awful, but it was incredible because it took me to a place my body and mind didn’t know they could go on their own. They had to be shown the way.
