Success: A Duty Or A Concept?

How To Make Success And Obligation And Duty

Success is your duty.

Read that again. You have a duty to succeed in your life.

Now this journal/blog entry will be quite short because this is an opinion piece rather than based on evidence or even knowledge.

I have been analysing the notion of success for some time. Success is a highly subjective word. What counts as a success to some will seem like nothing to others.

For the first time songwriter getting a UK Top 40 is everything. To someone like Ed Sheeran or Adele, a Top 40 is not a success.

So with this then as a subjective standpoint. What do we define success as? Well, that is up to you. How you define success depends on what you want to class as successful. This is great news!

Now you may be wondering why this is great news that we define what our own success is. Well, the simple reason is that most people will go through their day without defining what would be successful for them.

This leads to a negative mindset.

Now in my quest to learn more about mindset, and personal development, the basic mindset 101 that you will learn in that you have the ability to choose your mindset.

This is achieved through the following:

  • How you look at a situation
  • How you interpret that situation in terms of the feelings you want to feel
  • How do you set up your day?
  • How do you define the purpose?
  • How you generate energy
  • How you influence people
  • How courageous you are
  • How urgent you are
  • How well you exercise
  • Balance time
  • etc

There are a lot of basic factors that determine your mindset. Most of these factors can be determined as habits.

These habits determine your mindset. They determine how you see the world.

Even though these habits determine the world around you so in essence your worldview, so many people choose to ignore them. They choose to continue feeling like they are just unsuccessful.

They believe that is just who they are.

But out of it all comes the simple principle, your mindset is your choice. You either look at circumstances, challenges, obstacles as positive or negative.

Positive mindsets tend to be higher performers than their negative counterparts.

But the point is this is a choice.

I believe that as part of this choice we can decide to be successful or we can decide to be unsuccessful.

Now I know that most do not intentionally choose to be unsuccessful, as it would defeat the entire purpose of doing anything.

But it is how we define success that determines how successful we are.

As said in the first line you have a duty to be successful so how can you become successful?

The Elements To Success:

Success can be boiled down to two parts for simplicity.

  • Setting A Target
  • Achieving That Target

Setting A Target:

Setting a target is simple:

  • Make Your Bed
  • Eat Breakfast
  • Exercise
  • Get To Work Early
  • etc

This is very self-explanatory.

Achieving That Goal:

Simply do it!

Now by combining the two together and doing this on a small scale every day, you become conditioned to success. When you become conditioned to success you become successful.

It is crazy how that works!

Conclusion:

Success is simple, easy, and subjective. Why you feel unsuccessful is because you set goals and not targets. You shoot all of them too high instead of looking for some easy wins to build up momentum. By training yourself to just take small targets every day, along with your bigger targets you become a successful person.

Success is for everybody. Success is your duty.
