Why You Should Learn To Love Yourself

You may have been told that you need to love yourself, be kind to yourself, or not beat yourself up so much. Or perhaps you are fed up with constant negative thinking and self-criticism. It is sometimes said that there are only two main emotions; love, and fear. Let us look at some reasons why you should love yourself more, and then I'll give you some ideas as to how.

If you have hated or disliked yourself for many years, and it has not helped you move forward, well, why should it now? Why not try learning to love yourself, and if that makes your life worse, you can always go back to hating/disliking yourself. There is no harm in giving it a try.

If you are lucky in matters of romance, that's great! But if you find yourself struggling, you may well have already seen this saying: "How can you have someone love you if you don't love yourself?" - It makes sense. If you feel loveable, you can attract more of the right type of love - the type that does not use you and abuse you, the type that wants to stay with you, and grow and develop with you.

How do you do in social situations? In your hobbies, in sport, in your work or study? Do you ever find yourself lacking confidence in these situations? Does that negative critical voice appear and squash your confidence? Look at it this way. Suppose you had two friends. One of these friends you like very much and think very highly of, and the other friend you don't really like and you can see their too many faults. One day, both friends ask you for exactly the same favour. You can only help one of them. Which one will it be? I bet it's the friend that you like. In the same way, if you love yourself more, you can do more for yourself in any situation.

And what about your physical and emotional health? Do you spend a small fortune on your looks so that others can like you, which you see as the unlovable person? Or do you save that money and spend on your emotional and physical health, for example, if you want to see a chiropractor more than your health scheme will allow, if you would like to go for regular yoga to keep strong and supple, or consult with a nutritionist not covered by your health scheme, just to give a few examples. And how many people have ruined their health and eventually their looks with repeated cosmetic surgery?

It is not selfish to make yourself your number one priority. After all, how can you be of best use to others if you neglect yourself? For example, imagine a depressed mother who dislikes herself and is constantly unable to do more for her children because she is exhausted with all her negative thinking. If she learns to love herself, she can have the energy to spend more quality time with her children.

And if loving yourself seems too scary, maybe you can think about loving yourself a little bit more - say 10% more. You do not have to go all the way. You are completely in control of how much you choose to love yourself.

"But how?", I see you ask. And honestly, I get it. It is one thing hearing that you should love yourself more but a whole different thing actually being able to do it. You need to bypass some strong programming that probably started in chidhood, whether you are aware of it or not. You have to change the habit of a lifetime. The best way that I have found that really works is by using energy healing modalities, like EFT Tapping, Reiki, Kinesiology, and Body Talk, to name a few. EFT Tapping is my favourite, and I have combined a version of it with a bit of Reiki healing in my low-cost course How to Love Yourself In 5 Easy Lessons, at https://www.udemy.com/course/how-to-love-yourself-in-5-easy-lessons/?referralCode=7850B1BF59946A206942 (you have to copy and paste the link). Or you can attend a self-help energy healing course that can set you on the path. Of course, you can dive straight in and consult with say, an EFT Tapping or Reiki Practitioner, and see how you feel.

However you choose to move forward, you will be glad you did. Enjoy your journey of discovery and healing. And living life like you really want to!
