My 154 LB Parachute With Holes - 314 to 160 By Flailing In The Pool

“But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles.” — Isaiah 40:31

I was 314 pounds. 67 years old. And I could not get out of the shallow end of the GB3 pool.

Not because I could not swim. Because the parachute was too heavy.

That is what my counselor taught me. She said, “Lenora, imagine you have a 154 pound parachute on your back. With holes in it. That is the weight you carried. And the holes are the hurts — childhood, loss of husband, church hurt, grief, menopause, loneliness. You tried to fly with a broken parachute.”

For a year after my husband passed i layed around and felt sorry for myself. There is no, Perfect diet. Perfect exercise. Perfect prayer. But perfect never comes until you move! So I stayed at 314.

One day at the scale in the bathroom i looked down and said ok back to the pool! I went to s

Synergy Aquatic Theropy in Fresno and started a 6 month journey running on an underwater treadmill. I dumped 60 pounds and then my knee went out. GB3 gym is where i ended up. Grateful too! I could not lift myself up the pool steps. I sat there in the water and flailed. I just moved my arms. Flail. Flail. Flail. No form. No beauty. Just flailing. I then dumped the rest of my weight

God showed me: He does not need perfect form. He needs flailing faith.

I started going to the pool 3 and 4 days a week. Not to swim laps. To flail. In the shallow water, where I felt safe. I moved. I prayed. I cried. I laughed with the lad

Owner. The water held me when my knees could not.

From 314 to 280 — I flailed.

From 280 to 240 — I flailed.

From 240 to 200 — I still flailed.

From 200 to 160 — By the grace of God, I made it.

154 pounds gone. Not by keto. Not by surgery. Not by shame. By flailing in the pool and by crumbs.

Yes, crumbs. Matthew 15:27 says, “Even the dogs eat the crumbs that fall from the masters’ table.” I lived on crumbs for years. Crumbs of hope. Crumbs of Word. Crumbs from TD Jakes sermons on YouTube at 4am when I could not sleep. I became Gramora sending 145 Bible studies nd inspiration every morning to inmates, friends, and family. Those crumbs became feasts.

That is why I named my page Crumbs to Feasts with Gramora. Because God takes the little bits we think are nothing and makes a feast out of them.

I am 67. Short hair. Grate Grandma. I still flail. I still have holes in my parachute. But now I know: The holes are where the light comes through. And the parachute that once dragged me down now makes me fly — because Isaiah says we shall mount up with wings as eagles.

If you are reading this at 300, 250, 200 pounds — hear Gramora: You do not need a perfect parachute. You just need to flail. Get in the water. Move your arms. Give God your crumbs. He will make a feast.

“My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness.” — 2 Corinthians 12:9

My parachute still has holes. But it flies now. There's another secret to water and weight loss, ask me?
