Motivation is a crucial component of success. It's sometimes simple, and sometimes it's not. Here are some thoughts and suggestions on the issue of motivation.

Most of us are familiar with the idea of motivation. We've all experienced that initial rush of zeal. Perhaps it was a television commercial or news report, a magazine article, a casual comment, or an uncomfortable event that gave us that sudden surge of assurance that something needed to be done...could be done. We had a tremendous, nagging urge to DO SOMETHING...something that would disrupt the status quo or establish something new. This is frequently followed with a clear and certain understanding of what to do, how to accomplish it, and what the outcome will be.

We could have made the decision to lose weight, establish a business, or publish a book. We were certain of victory because of our reaction to what we had seen, heard, or felt! Tomorrow, we'd join that workout program or establish that savings account; tomorrow, we'd start writing a chapter a day. No! Tomorrow seemed like an eternity away! We knew exactly what we wanted and how we were going to get it, and we were going to start right now! Nothing would be able to stop us!! Naturally, we know what transpired in the next hours, days, or weeks.

The distinct vision we had of our triumph faded and muddled, and then vanished entirely. The daily workout practice was reduced to a couple of times a week, and ultimately abandoned entirely. We stopped making deposits, or the notebook we bought to write our big novel appeared to have too many blank pages to ever fill.

The dream came to an end. If we're lucky, that's all there was to it...it came to an end. However, for some, it persisted as yet another reminder of all the unmet goals, and it got ingrained in our self-image. It was another another setback to add to the list.

So! What occurred, and what can we do about it? Life, human nature, and personality or character all had a role in what transpired.

We are constantly bombarded with information, events, and chances in life. It's challenging to stay focused on the objective and the process while keeping the original level of enthusiasm that fueled the project when it was fresh.

Human nature includes defensive mechanisms and flaws that combine to lead us to lose the zeal we once had...before we notice the impediments in our way. Unfortunately, an impediment does not have to be actual in order to be effective. Friends and family's well-intentioned misgivings, whether real or imagined, are equally powerful in dampening the fires of desire.

Our personalities and characteristics, like so many other aspects of our life, have a significant influence on our success or failure in any given scenario. Whether they help us succeed or become a hindrance, however, does not make us failures! It's also worth noting that the personality or character traits that might get in the way aren't always fixed It is not set in stone and may be changed so that success becomes more prevalent.

Suggestions for staying motivated After the first exuberant surge of excitement we had when we first believed we found "the solution," maintain our dream clear, bright, and fresh. We can't change life in general, but we can change how we live it and modify human nature and situations that would otherwise prevent us from succeeding.

1. Commit it to paper: Whatever your aim or desire is, write it down. As new events and variables occur, the dream often gets more difficult to observe and focus on. Writing it down helps us refocus and picture the objective as it was when we first saw it.

2. Read it: Bring the paper you wrote it on with you when you read it. Make a second duplicate and stick it on the bathroom mirror and the refrigerator door. Take it out and read it multiple times a day...out loud is great, but reading it discreetly in the bathroom is better than nothing.

3. Revise it: Things change, people change, and we learn new things. Be honest. It is not failure to have to change a desire or the method of reaching it. It's the truth.

4. Keep track of what you did to reach your goal, as well as what you can do tomorrow or next week. Don't worry about how far you got or how much you accomplished; all that matters is that you did it.

5. Understand it: Research the topic. You don't have to return to school for a degree, but consistently studying the topic can help you stay focused and may even provide you with fresh ideas to aid you along the road.

6. Share it: You are the judge if you dare. It can be inspiring to let people know what you're doing, even if you're aware that they may have an unfavorable opinion.

7. Read up on motivation: These aren't the only words that have been written on the subject. There are a variety of additional options available. Computer Technology Articles, as well as a line in another article or book, may hold the secret to taking you further than you've ever gone.

The idea is to maintain a level of motivation that is similar to what you had when you first started.
