Love more, Live longer
During times of chaos and distruction, my mind continues to come back to one place. What our world is truly lacking is L O V E. Everywhere we go and everything we see seems to be covered in fear. Our food is being poisoned, our media is full of fake news and false information, and people are walking around in masks, afraid to get too close. It breaks my heart to witness elderly men and women shake rapidly at the brush of a shoulder by another. They panic with that fearful look in their eye. What if it happens to me?

The Creature That is Me
“Ready for a story?” The creature licks its lips, before twisting them into a long, thin smile. I see the little girl stand before it in the black, wet room. Pretty butterfly clips sit in her damp hair, and there is blood running from her eyes. My head pounds.

Yet in that darkness, there are stars in the night's sky that shine upon us. Let us savor the joy of those sparks of light. Third Place in Love More Challenge.
In 2019 Marie Kondo asked us “Does it bring you joy?” In 2019 deciding whether to keep an article of clothing was worthy of being kept in your closet seemed hard. In 2019 I spent my paychecks on my unimaginable student debt, rent, and cloths. My closet was full of items that when purchased brought me immense joy for perhaps a day. Dresses that would have my mom asking “Are you trying to hide your outfits from me” As I snuck out of her house in an oversized coat on my way to a Dante’s Inferno themed birthday party. In 2020 I wear the same sweatpants every day and brush my hair just to put it in a tangled bun. In 2020 I no longer have a job & the idea of glueing gems to my face no longer has the same appeal, I have to find joy else where.

5 Life-Changing Lessons From a Plane Crash Survivor.
Your life's about to be transformed. Are you ready? My life changed forever on December 10, 2005. I boarded a plane in Abuja, Nigeria, with 60 of my classmates, to fly home from boarding school for Christmas. With 15 minutes left in the flight, the pilot announced that we would be landing at the airport shortly. There was some seemingly normal turbulence—and then it progressed dramatically. Passengers were confused and nervous, and a woman in the back of the plane screamed, triggering panic. It was clear that the plane was malfunctioning. I felt a kind of awe, as it was impossible to reconcile what was happening to reality. I reached across the aisle to hold my friend’s hand, and we prayed. I remember hearing a loud, scraping metal sound, and after that I don't remember anything else.

Cruising on a Ship
It was a bright and sunny morning and Mike woke up to have his early morning jog. He enjoyed the beautiful weather as he jogged across the park. Mike was not alone and few other people were also jogging along early in the morning. Mike greeted all the people he came across while jogging. After his jog Mike went home and greeted his family. Mike kissed his wife and kids and said good morning to them. Mike sat down with his family to have breakfast. Mike and his wife had some coffee, while their 2 kids had a bowl of cereal. While the family was enjoying their breakfast, Mike surprised his family with tickets to a cruise ship. The whole family was very happy to go traveling on a cruise ship. The kids were jumping up and down in excitement. Mike and his family made all the preparations to board the cruise ship. Mike collected all his things and took his family on the bus, which was heading towards the docks. From the docks they would depart on their family adventure. Everyone was so excited as they waited on line to board the cruise ship. It was a huge ship with many people going on board. When passengers board a ship to go on a cruise they are happy and overjoyed. Mike and his family are finally on the cruise ship. Those on land see the ship move farther and farther away. The ship travels deep into the middle of the ocean, until it can no longer be seen to the people still on the land. People are laughing and enjoying their time on the cruise ship. Mike and his family enjoy all the different activities the cruise ship has to offer. They also enjoyed a amazing view of the vast ocean in front of their eyes. They are also enjoying the beautiful weather with a nice breeze from the ocean mist. All of the sudden dark clouds start to appear and rain starts to fall from the sky with a violent storm wind. The ship rocks back and forth causing the waves to come aboard the ships. People start to panic as they sway across the ship. Mike tries his best to keep his family safe, and his kids have a terrified look on their faces. The kids have never been more scared in their life. Then they hear the sound of thunder, which terrifies them even more. The lightening that strike the cruise ship almost snatches away their eyesight. Then the ship is submerged in the water as the people start to drown. As we look into the faces of the people we see fear and their eyes are wide open in shock. We take a deeper look into the hearts of the people and see that they are hoping to be saved from this calamity. Immediately after, they are saved and brought back onto the land. Mike and his family are amongst the people saved from this tragedy. Some people are grateful and change for the better, while others are ungrateful and go back to their evil ways. Mike says to his wife and kids, “there is a great lesson to be learned here” and amongst them is to have the necessary precaution when boarding a ship. One must also be grateful for another chance in enjoying a bright and sunny day. Mike says to his family, so which person will you be Grateful or Ungrateful? The kids replied that they will be grateful and optimistic. Mike reassured his kids to not worry and that the future is bright.

Good Things Jar 2019
After making so many memories in 2018, and the enjoyment of looking back on them, I did the same for 2019. The idea is to make a note of something good that happened each week, put each note in a jar, and have 52 memories on which to look back. I tried to get at least one note per week in there but was lucky enough to have even more experiences that I wanted to remember.

Cherry blossom tree in Japan and one broken heart.
Though most widely celebrated in Japan, hanami celebrations have become popular around the world in recent decades. Some of the most popular cherry blossom celebrations in the United States occur in Washington, D.C., Philadelphia, Macon, Boston and Brooklyn. Here's hoping you get out and enjoy them this spring -- perhaps, even, with a little more history than before.

A piece of my heart
What is pure joy? Everyone probably has their own interpretation or definition of the word, but I want to share mine. Joy is not based on circumstances. It comes from an inner knowledge. It is not circumstantial. It is a choice. Joy is freedom from conditional happiness. It comes from the heart.

It took several trails and many empty-handed return trips home to finally perform at the international level in Europe. Everyone has a journey, mine is a bit more winding than most. It was what I learned in times of failure and rejection that led to me success.

Happiness
Happiness is a word that doesn't always get appreciated for its full meaning. We all search for happiness, but sometimes it's hard to find. Financial concerns, health difficulties, emotional issues, family squabbles...they all get in the way of our happiness. I believe that the key is to never give up. No matter how difficult it may seem, there's always something that can put a smile on your face.
