The Very Nature of Life
There once was a kind-hearted and generous farmer who labored day and night, producing corn for many of the neighboring towns. During the winter, although he did not produce corn, he would walk his corn fields, checking the soil and patiently waiting on the next growing season. He looked forward to the days when the corn would sprout. It gave him a sense of accomplishment he only would feel when seeing the green sprouting from the soil. It was new life at its finest.

Put down that donut and listen
Opening my eyes on January 1, 2021 was different from opening my eyes on January 1, 2020 for numerous reasons, but the main difference is in 2021 I woke up a pessimist. It is no conundrum as to why that is of course. In 2020, I woke up with the phrase “Clear vision, clear future” hanging off my lips, whereas this year I woke up with a less eloquent phrase… “Now what?”

7.00: Wake up
I wrote my first real to-do list on January 1st. It's on an A5 size sheet of old notepad paper, the kind with tiny squares that make your eyes hurt instead of lines, and the edge of it is ragged where it ripped as I tore the page out of the book. The writing on it shrinks down the further down the page you get because I started to run out of room, and there are at least three swear words on the page. I'm weirdly proud of it.

Good Deeds
The last year has been a very strange year, it has changed the world in good and bad ways. I have found that I have been in a lucky situation the last year as we had money for once in our lives, we got a dog and my mental health had improved considerably. However, I could see the worry and struggles around my town affecting my neighbours.

Cold Life, Warm Heart
The 35°c (95°f) Australian heat radiates onto their unprotected skin. Flies, mosquitoes and other mites scrounge through the waste, searching for food just as desperately as the people who left it there. With every day providing no surprises, and every night bringing more and more fights fueled by alcohol. This is the life for the homeless people in Australia.

Healing
Whoever said time heals all, lied. Time is not a healing process and pain lingers as long as there is vulnerability. Realizing that time is only going to hurt more with each day if you do not make a change, is the first step to actually healing. Allowing time to cover your wound will only create an emptiness later on. Covering something is not treating it. Allowing time to fix your emotions, is simply letting different events and expieriences that may happen , be more current in your life to distract you from actually healing. Lets think about growth, enlightenment, and peace. Rather than trying to forget our most traumatic moments. Which is impossible.

The Lessons of Owls
I had been seeing owls for months— and I felt as if they felt my awareness. Like conspirators in an elusive cult, they followed me: on my nighttime walks, computer browsers, and silhouettes on craft store jewelry. They were speaking to me.

Creating a New Me
2020 was hard on everyone. I want to be optimistic about 2021 by creating a new me. To do this, I am going to get to my goal weight and become more productive on writing. My goal weight is to be 180 lbs from 316 lbs. I will reassess my weight goals at that point to see if I want to be smaller.
