Eat a Mudpie.
Remember making mud pies? One good, hard rain and the next day- the baking ensues. If you’re really good, you add acorns to the top. Sometimes you’d crush some pinecones and decorate the edges. Add some twigs to the siding. Sprinkle a handful of pebbles. Place a dandelion or two.

Fear of Knowing Who You Are
On a rainy afternoon, I was crying beneath my blanket while feeling disappointed. When my frenchy-boston noticed my distress, she climbed in bed with me and tapped my head with her right paw. Like a tootsie-roll pop, she licked away my tears as if reassuring me that everything was going to be ok. How many licks did it take to finally get me centered? None! Nothing could shake off the sadness no matter how much anyone tried.

Why Growth Looks Like Destruction
Everything in life moves in cycles, not just the cycle of life, death and rebirth but cycles of increase and decrease as well. We all travel through the hills and valleys, the ups and downs, the struggles and the achievements, and it’s easy sometimes to forget that things will get better.

5 Things You Can Do Now to Create a Better 2021
2020 is finally over. Though if you are like me, you felt like it would never end. If you are like me, you felt like last year took more from you than you had to give. Between the Covid-19 crisis, unemployment, civil unrest, evictions and so much more; there were many times where I did not even want to get out of bed.

𝕪𝕠𝕦’𝕣𝕖 𝕠𝕟 𝕪𝕠𝕦𝕣 𝕨𝕒𝕪
So, it's 2 a.m. on January, 18, 2021. My sleep schedule has gotten a little out of wack these past couple weeks - this year did not begin how I imagined, but can I really be all that surprised? I knew something had to give, and this last year has pushed me down into a new kind of shell that I haven't experienced before, so the universe said "sit down, be patient - I'll handle this."

Before I Start, I'm Giving Up
I have decided that I am giving up big time this year! I mean, really just letting go. You might say, didn’t we do that last year? Wasn’t that what 2020 was all about? Actually, no, not for me. While we might have spent more time in our pajamas than we’d ever dreamed possible, that is not the giving up that I’m talking about.

Live in your true state
It’s sometimes so difficult to believe in the universe. Especially when this is not broadcasted, you don’t learn this in schools this isn’t on the news, if this is something that you never come across in your life then you will live a life in not enough state. If I told you, you could have everything! Would you believe me?

New Year, New strategies
1. Keeping it positive I decided that I would control the energy around me. On December 31st, I let go of all my negative energy and toxicity that I had lingering. I wanted to start the new year with nothing but fresh and clean energy. Even if the people around me had a smog around them I would not let that affect me.

Emerging from the abyss:
I am wounded deeply. For a thousand reasons that would take me millions of words to pour out to you. I am wounded from a traumatizing break up. You see, dear reader, the man I loved and trusted for six years cruelly cheated on me and then completely ghosted me and disappeared from my life without a word or explanation. I have been silenced by him and denied any sense of closure. I am wounded also by the loss of dear friends. Friends who chose to believe the words of my narcissistic ex boyfriend over the truth and the feelings in my heart. I am wounded by betrayal. Betrayal trauma that stretches back to my youth, when my best friends showed their true nature as my worst frenemies. I even have, in the past, wounded myself. When my feelings have completely overwhelmed me, when I’ve broken down, when I’ve been driven by anger and self loathing, yes dear reader, I’ve hurt myself.

Let's Be Real
A new year. A blank page. A clean slate. Whatever the colloquialism, the sentiment is the same-start fresh, set some goals, and become a new and improved version of the old you. I see you, New Year's Resolutions, and I won't be fooled again. Setting the arbitrary date of January 1 to suddenly begin solving a life time of compounded problems-student loan debt, bad relationship patterns, the last five pounds- it's a lot of pressure for one person to shoulder, especially in the age of influencers and curated IG feeds.
