How to Jump Start Healthier Choices in 2021
Canyons are dug slowly over time. These huge, magnificent changes are the result of small, incremental changes, over a long period of time. When it comes to our health and fitness, it is hard to get the ball rolling back in the right direction. I don't care who you are or how disciplined you are (or were). It is easier to eat that shitty food, have those couple extra drinks, and binge watch another show on Netflix instead of exercising. Maybe it was the pandemic that knocked you off your good habits. Maybe it was your first baby, or a promotion at work that now takes up all your time. Whatever it was, it can seem too daunting, too hard, too uncomfortable to get back on track. We have all been there.

SMART Goals
We all make goals, right? At least, we all think about things we'd like to achieve or do in the future and call them "goals". What it 'do?
Black women are different. Black women are unique, and we black women are particular! Especially particular about our hair. I had the same stylist from elementary school to high school graduation. I ONLY got a new one as an adult because the one I had moved from the shop up the street from my parents house. My next stylist came as a recommendation from a close coworker of mine at the time. She ended up being really good, so I continued to go back. She was my hair stylist for about 5 years. She stopped doing hair. That really sucked. As I said, we black women are particular about our hair which means we are particular about the stylist! Since I had lost my last two stylists, I had no one to do my hair. I learned how to do some stuff myself. I was my own "stylist" for a long time. Social media came through and changed the game. Social media gave us instant access to people. I could find a stylist, look at pictures of her work, read reviews AND book an appointment in the same damn place and the same damn time! That's how I saw Cynell. Ms Cynell Robertson. She is the sister in law of a person I went to school with. Our virtual friendship was completely by chance. She is a mother. She is a business owner. She is a hair stylist. Hair and Nellz is her own creation. She owns it. She runs it. She has a big personality and an even bigger smile, a positive attitude and confidence in her voice. She has a cozy salon that always makes you feel right at home. You thirsty? She got you. Music to ease your mind, reading materials or just good conversation? She got you! She has been doing hair since the age of fifteen. She is now a thirty-eight year old mother of four. She once worked in a local hospital and just did hair on the weekends. Hair has always been a part of her life. But, upon losing that job, she took that as a sign to pursue hair full time. That is how Hair and Nellz was born. As moms, we are more than willing to do whatever it takes for our children, and baby? That is what sis did. I would go to the end of the earth and back for mine...ok?

An Unlocked Heart
Sometimes people may surprise you. You have build a mental profile of them in your head that what they do, say or think becomes almost predictable. Your view of them slightly alters when a moment occurs where the last person you didn’t expect to provide useful information, shows up with a piece of the puzzle.

Discovering self-love.
2020 became too much. Too much for a newly qualified young 24 year old male therapist. The stories I heard day-to-day. The isolation created by a national lockdown and the risks that came with a global pandemic. A long-term partner suffering with severe mental health difficulties, too far away to feel I was making any positive impact on her life. A mother, who was recovering from a brain anuerysm.

The Unexpected Handshake
On a recent trip to the Canyon River Ranch, which is located on the Yakima River in-between Ellensburg and Yakima, we decided to go on a hike a couple miles up the road at the Umtanum Creek Recreation Site. We had done the hike once before and were excited to go check it out again. The hike begins by crossing the Yakima River on a cool walking bridge. As we got to the other side of the river Lindsey, my better half, pointed out that back on the parking lot side there was a couple of guys struggling to get their truck and boat trailer up the gravel boat launch. I was in my own world snapping pictures and largely oblivious to the world around me and had not noticed. She suggested maybe I should go give them a hand. Thinking that was a great idea I went back across the bridge and checked in with the stuck fishermen.

Manifesting Wealth
A techno-themed tone with vibration awakens her from a peaceful sleep. Incrementally, the sound and vibration increase to a loud noise that warrants movement. It’s 530am on a dreary Saturday morning in the Winter. She reaches for her cell phone to slide the indicator to “Dismiss” in order to quiet the noise.

I tried this for only 1 week and this is what Happened
Every life has a purpose, and every soul has a dream. This is what each one of us, whether you or me, have come to manifest as beings on earth. White light is omnipresent and flows freely in nature as simply as air. It is accessible to everyone. Most of us do not feel or see it unless we are spiritually aware. But the moment you begin thinking of it, whether you realize it or not, the white light comes itself to you and can be directed to any part of the body simply by intending. However, for manifestation we visualize it at the third eye. Here is something about White Light Meditation: White Light Meditation is short, simple and does not need expert guidance, rigorous practice and experience. Once you intend for the white light to flow and shine through you, it does, even though there might not be any physical evidence of the same. The greatest proof of its effectiveness is the happening of the desired changes and the amazing turnaround of situations, persons and events in your life. White Light Meditation as a practice : 1. provides the necessary motivation, the strength of determination, perseverance and endurance to stay focused on your goal throughout the duration of your endeavor; 2. opens up options and possibilities, removes doubts, inhibitions and confusions that might have held you back all this time; 3. brings clarity of thoughts, authority and firmness of decision; 4. removes obstacles and hindrances that might have blocked the way to your goals; 5. brings to you the necessary knowledge and resources, even from sources you might not have been aware of until now, finally leading you to completion. You can use it almost anywhere to lift your mood. If you’ve got sometime free throughout the day, I highly recommend learning this practice to fill some of them with. Visualization meditations have a prominent place in most of the world’s contemplative traditions. Many religious teachers have realized the effectiveness of using “thought-objects” as a means of achieving deeper experiences.
