When the Hard Work of Perfection is Done...
The most profound personal-growth seminars I lead are those that address our deepest fears or inabilities. What are we afraid of? Are there even "true" fears? Is there any way to overcome fear? Is there any way to find the source of fear?

Embrace Uncertainty
Elanie caught her reflection in the ornate mirror and immediately looked away. It seemed wherever she turned, she could see herself, even in the mirror fixed to the wooden canopy above the bed. It was disconcerting and she tried to focus on the furniture and décor. The Frida Kahlo Museum was beautiful, though simple, colorful and bright like much of her artwork. Lush plants in the small courtyard, offered life to a house that was now cold, invaded by strangers who longed to hear the whispers of the artists who had once resided within.

Hope's Returning. Spring Is Coming!
Daffodils will bloom in a few weeks. Next will be the tulips. In late spring, the heady scent of irises and lilac will fill the air. (We will be able to smell them better without wearing a mask outside.) Buds and blossoms will come on the trees in April. By May leaves will shade us from the sun.

"Six" Gems
The things that make MJ.....THE G.O.A.T.! You may believe it's the on the court accomplishments and accolades. Like being undefeated in six championship series or six time NBA Finals MVP. Or is it the ten scoring titles and five regular season MVP Awards, ten All-NBA First Team and nine All-Defensive First Team honors? Maybe it's the fourteen NBA All-Star Game selections, three All-Star Game MVP Awards, three steals titles or the 1988 Defensive Player of the Year Award.

The Book
The Book The shop smelt of mothballs and potpourri and everything was coated with a thin layer of dust. There were a multitude of items that looked to be pulled from the basement of a house that hasn't been touched since the early 1900’s. I walked past doilies that were stained a light yellow, handmade clothes that I couldn’t imagine were ever in style, and an abundance of old vinyls from the 60’s. I wish I could say I had a passion for old stuff. Truly, I only wandered into the local antique shop while I waited for my laundry to finish drying at the nearby laundromat. I was always told that it was rude to walk into a store with no intention of buying anything. My mom would always leave the store with something after a day of browsing. She would often gift it to me once she got home and told me that she was thinking of me. I knew the truth behind the small gifts but whether it was a pack of gum or a pair of shoes, it meant the world to me.

The Magic of Metaphorical Thinking
Ona brilliant and almost blindingly sunny morning, we awoke to three inches of fresh crystalline snow blanketing our mountain landscape, gently weighing down the yearling trees that are spreading throughout the meadow. It was a day that would prove to be a vibrant celebration of nature in its apparent beauty and mysterious phenomena.

The Price of Misery
"This sucks." I murmured to myself. White fog formed in front of my lips from the heat of my breath as I hugged myself tighter in my much too thin jacket, desperate for more warmth as my feet hung, swinging slightly, from the bus stop bench I was sat upon. I looked around at my dark surroundings, I felt increasingly nervous as I waited for my bus, still unfamiliar to the experience. I supposed this was humbling, considering until a week prior I'd had the distinct luxury of driving myself in a decade old truck. That was until of course the engine decided to blow up in my face, birthing an array of issues on top of what I considered to be an already pretty bad life. Truthfully, I'd never admit to anyone I thought my life was bad or hard, I couldn't stand the guilt of knowing there were people that had it worse than me, people who didn't even have a house to walk back to from the bus stop. However, as thankful as I was to have a home to return to, I also felt as though I was drowning in the lifetime of problems that awaited me there. I'd endured a life of abuse, neglect and abandonment from my parents, and what felt like loss after loss as i worked endless hours just to create a life with even a hint of stability. That stability proved to be just as fragile as I'd assumed, and although I resented how privileged I knew it would sound to others, having to resort to public transportation felt like yet another loss.

Soul Release
Pandemic. That is what most people will think of when they remember 2020. We replaced human interaction with solitude and face masks. Grocery store banter was rarely heard. People were alone with their thoughts, their traumas, and their pain for the first time in most of their lives. Experts say that mental illness was skyrocketing. I would argue that our vices were taken away, which forced us to face our true selves. While the world was masking up to fight a virus, there was a deeper unmasking of raw emotion bubbling beneath the surface.

A Tuesday At The Docs
It was a Tuesday afternoon and I decided to go down to the docs. I liked sitting at the edge of the docs and watching the ducks swim gracefully in the water. It was very peaceful there. Since I finished school, I had a lot of time on my hands to write in my favorite little black notebook. I took my softcover notebook and began to write down all the things I wanted to do in my life. Everyone expected me to get a job as soon as I finished university, but I had other plans. I wanted to get away. Travel. See the world. Most importantly, I wanted to start a life with him. The only problem with getting away was the fact that I had no money. Well, not enough money to start a life. There I was sitting with my feet hanging off the docs when an old man approached me.
