We will be going through several leadership skills from the character of harry from harry potter book series.

First of all it’s very important to understand that a leader is just the presentation of effort of a lot of people who were guided in a singular direction and focus towards achievement of something significant by someone who took entire responsibility of getting it all together and make it happen. It takes certain qualities to be a leader that everyone acknowledges, appreciates and recognizes.

The most important quality before anything is being aware that strength comes from within. Harry was faced with dementors that are creatures that suck out the happiness from you and they feed on your despair and negative experiences. The only way to get free was a spell that worked only when the wizard focused on a very positive memory from within or focused on a positive experience. Likewise there are situations when everyone looks upon you for direction and upliftment in some uncertain situations and these situations can also bog you down. The strength to deal with these situations only come from within by focusing on your positive experiences, on the positive and good side of life and you can come out stronger.

Never estimate the power of love and empathy. Love helped harry battle the strongest dark force in the entire wizarding world. These are one of the most powerful quality in a leader which can help him understand and make the best come out of everyone that the leader touches upon. Every unseen situation calls upon empathy to understand the other person’s perspective as no one alone can make significant happen without the cumulative effort of a team, and understanding people need empathy.

Having friends or mentors in life can be the biggest leverage because at times when a leader is not able to figure out situations and might need some guidance or help. These are situations where friends play a very important role of moral support and mentors that of guidance.

Sometimes not following a rule is also a rule in itself. Now you may wonder how it is possible but let me tell you sometimes in life there are certain situations that require going away from the treaded way of doing things, decision making and take the unknown path. Going beyond the known helped harry discover things that made him stand out as he knew something that not everyone did and this attribute proved to be strategic advantage. Your decision making carve out the niche that makes you achieve spectacular results helping you inch over the average decision making.

Believing in your decision even when no one could see the outcome of a certain decision as not everyone can see the big picture as the leader has seen it in the mind’s eyes in his own mind.

Accepting the unknown. As harry was forced to be a part of competition that he did not sufficed at that age. But leadership is laden with situations that are unbeknownst. No one said leadership is easy ever. Leadership means dealing with uncertainty, and sometimes in these unknown situations some qualities that you learned while breaking the rules can come handy as you might have learned something that you would have never and it could help you go through the new situation.

There is so much to learn from this character!
