You want to know the secret to avoid a bad day at work. Here is the secret recipe to make your workday better.

1st Secret: Admit your mistakes.

This does not imply that you enter the hallway, approach the first person you see, and begin to confess every mistake you have made since joining the company. It implies that a lot of the time, our tension is simply a guilty conscience. Simply owning up to a mistake is one of the best ways to lessen the stress and shame that it may cause.

Your main worry is the consequences of being discovered, correct? Why not simply confront it head-on and according to your terms? You'll feel better if you have a strategy for restoring what you damaged. You'll also be surprised by the positive effects this brave action will have on your credibility and reputation.

2nd Secret: Make a list of your blessings.

trite and accurate This advice has been around for a long time because it is effective. Since it's in our nature to solve problems, we frequently concentrate on the things that aren't working so that we may figure out how to make them work. To recognize the things that are working well, we occasionally need to push ourselves out of problem-solver mentality.

Find 10 things that are going great when you are positive that nothing could possibly be worse. You may do this silently in your brain or with a pen and paper. Keep going till you reach ten! You'll notice a change in your thinking around number five that will put you back on track for the day—or at least until the meeting is done!

3rd Secret: Stop useless talking.

Ouch! This one will hurt a bit, but the benefits will be significant. When you gossip, you are implying to the target that you'll treat them similarly when they're not around. It all truly adds up to making you seem (and act) unreliable. Not the ideal quality to develop in a workplace colleague!

The majority of gossip involves idle small chat. Have a few conversation starters ready before you arrive at the lunch table rather than depending on this tried-and-true method. What if another person creates a rumor? Don't react in a biased manner. Just recognize their issues (He really irritates you, huh?) and change the subject politely.

4th Secret: Dress for success.

This is a unique perspective on yet another trustworthy nugget of established business knowledge. If you dress in a way that makes you feel overweight, elderly, frumpy, or generally uneasy while at work, you are unintentionally setting yourself up for a horrible day. How we feel about ourselves, including our looks, has a direct impact on who we are.

Throw aside "that clothing" right now. For the work week, you actually only need enough clothing for five days. I am aware that this advise runs against to every high school's popularity standards, but it is still accurate. Instead of attempting to appear as though you are wearing a new outfit every week, simply add some flair to the one that fits you wonderfully and looks amazing on you with a scarf, various earrings, a tie, etc. You get the idea.

5th Secret: The workplace is just a playground.

Remember that the office is simply a playground for grownups, and everything will seem insignificant in the end. The Bully, the Nerd, and the Show-Off will always exist. There will also be the Valedictorian, the Scaredy Cat, and maybe even the New Kid. Learn about these three "babies" in your job to brighten your day.

The first two—New Kid and Scaredy Cat—will give you a great sense of satisfaction for assisting a scared child trapped inside a big person's body. The Valedictorian is your second opportunity to receive excellent tutoring (mentoring) from the coworker who actually appears to be climbing the ladder (especially if your ladder is leaning against the wrong wall!). Therefore, invite her to join your table at the next meeting or accompany the new kid or corporate smartie to lunch.

These little actions of bravery and generosity will result in a better day at work as their reward.
