Breathe. Get yourself off the couch. Breathe. Put on clothes that make you feel comfortable. Breathe. Put on those sneakers you like so much. Breathe. Remember your jacket, it might be chilly. Breathe. Bring your journal, you might get struck by inspiration. Breathe. Unlock the door that has been closed for 3 days straight and open it up. Just breathe.

You made it outside, good job! Celebrate that victory after being closed off from the outside world for far too long. Put on your headphones and put on your happy playlist. You know the one. The one that makes you want to jump around and sing along without a care in the world.

Do you have a destination? Maybe, maybe not. Either way, it's okay. There's a forest nearby that's so secluded but yet makes you feel so warm, just being in it. The forest has a lake in it, if you get tired of walking or your feet start hurting, you can sit and enjoy the view maybe even write in your journal.

Is your mind wandering along with your steps? That's fine, let it wander. You're outside in the open. All those dark thoughts can blow away with the wind, give your head some free space. Maybe the free space fills up with the happy thoughts of being in this forest. The gravel trail crunches under your feet and you can almost feel every little stone. Doesn't it make you feel alive? Being able to hear the small pebbles give under your shoes. Feeling the wind in your hair, on your skin.

Sit in the sunshine by the water. Do some breathing exercises, really take in that fresh air. Take out your journal and a pen. Write down anything that comes to mind. Mindless scribbles. It's so liberating just jotting down words. Look out over the lake, do you see all the small ripples? It's like looking at life, so many ripples you go through but there just keep coming more. Some good, some bad. How are you feeling? Still a little down? No problem, let's take a sip of water and keep walking down the forest trail.

In the distance, there's a hill, at the top of it you can look over most of the forest. Let's go there, it's probably really beautiful from up there. Luckily someone put steps to get to the top of the hill. One of the many positives you can experience, you just have to look for them.

You're at the top now. You can see so many treetops. All the green leaves are a nice contrast to the blue sky with little to no clouds on it. Clouds always looked like pillows, some more fluffy than others. Look at the sky and the clouds, do you see how one of them looks like a butterfly? Take in all the small things that are beautiful, funny-looking, or just interesting.

Walk back home with a smile on your face, today was good. You got out, you spent time on YOU, you even got to write some good things in your journal that you can look back over later. Now lay back, process the things you got to see today. Reminisce over the lake, the gravel path, the trees.

Take a seat or lay down, remember all the victories you’ve had throughout the past few weeks of feeling off or down. Showering, brushing your teeth, even if it’s just 30 seconds, changing clothes, eating something. Things you sometimes feel as a defeat, can be switched to a victory. You’re doing the best you can right now and that’s amazing.

Thank you for trying your hardest.
