Embrace Yourself Proudly

Redhead Festival Ireland

By RabiyaR ButtPublished 2 days ago 3 min read

Emily had always been rather embarrassed about her red hair which appeared bright as if it had been dyed. Her younger self even sought to cover it with hats or hoped to wake up with a different hair shade, one that most of her peers enjoyed. She sat envying them as they washed their beautiful black, brown shiny hair thinking why couldn’t she have hair like them. However, the latter becomes a significant issue in the given story as soon as Emily comes to understand that her hair is what defines her as a person. This was the moment she began to accept the itchy, fiery hair on her head; however, it was not until she came across the redhead festival in Ireland that she felt like she belonged.

One day Emily was using the Internet and she came across an advertisement of the festival. It was a night dedicated to Red heads and to be honest it gave her that perfect chance to perhaps meet other red heads. She used to be strange or different to most of her friend and kin folks but the idea of people of having the same feature as her thrilled her.

As part of the festival, Emily persuaded her family to go the Ireland; they arrived in a small village of Crosshaven. Blind colours of balloons and streamers were red and orange and there were redheads of the same age groups joking merrily. I agree with this statement because Emily finally had a feeling that she meant something and belonged to a group.

To go back into what happened, the first day of the festival was fun. What greets Emily is the ginger parade, the Irish dance show, and the Ginger Queen Beauty Contest she joined and the warmest joy of the day –the Ginger crowd from all over the world. The social part of her learning made her find new friends in a girl who was from the United States and a boy from Canada, as well as a woman from Australia. They talked and joked and for the first time ever Emily felt like the people surrounding her knew what she was going through.

Categorically, Emily came to understand that being a red head meant more than just having such hair color, for she was not alone at the festival. In general they know each other, they all had that rare quality, They were all funny and all loved life. Emily asserted that she felt as though she has discovered her lost relatives in the group.

The following day, Emily and her friends went to an event held in aid of Irish Cancer Society. They heard speeches of cancer patients and watched a charity sale. In fact, perspectives towards the redheads and their synchronization was interesting and remarkable for Emily. All of them were present there with the similar purpose of having fun with their hair color and at the same time contributed to a noble cause.

Therefore, as the curtain of the festival came to be drawn, this pretty young lady could not help but feel a tinge of melancholy deep within her heart. She did not like the weekends to be over and did not want to leave her newly found friends. But she realized that she was going to hold the Redhead Festival in Ireland very dear to her heart. She had felt that she had a place where she fits and she is confident that she will go back again the following year.

Emily then made up her mind to accept her red hair and ever since then she would be proud of the color of her hair. Next was the desire to change, but she no longer bothered to mask it; she flaunted the fact. She finally came to accept that her hair was a part of her, and she could not be happier having a view she had never had before. From this, Emily confidently marched home with her fire red locks ready to conquer the world as the leader she is.

Years later, Emily went back to Redhead Festival celebration in Ireland with her own children in tow. Both her children had red hair and together with the other children they happily frolicked through the festival grounds. Emily imposed her eyes on them and with certainty was confident that they would never get that feeling that they do not fit in. They are expected to fit in a society, a society that embraced their difference and tailored to encourage them.

Not only was she admired but also surrounded by people with the same demanding but beautiful hair color as herself; Emily felt at home. This was not just a girl with red hair anymore; she felt like a member of a society, a formation of some sort. Thus she also understood that with further years she would remain linked to the redheads she met in Ireland.
